We have all heard the tales of the struggling writer, slaving over their desk and burning the midnight oil, suffering for their art!
Do you know the difference between a writer and an author?
An author is published.
Does wrestling with your manuscript and the horrors of writer's block make it a better book? I doubt it. In fact, I don't think there is such a thing as writer's block, just poor planning.
If you are writing to an audience you know- your ideal clients - and you are sharing what you do for them, then you already have ALL the information you need. The only thing that can stop you downloading that information as a published book is your own mind!
You wouldn't set off on a long-distance trip without a clear destination and a plan of how to get there, so here are 5 questions to answer before you set off on your book journey.
1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH YOUR BOOK
What will be the end result? The purpose of your client connection book is to establish engagement?with the people you know you want to work with. Your book must answer the No.1 question that your ideal clients are thinking, but are too polite to ask:
?“Why should I trust you to help me solve my problem?”
2. IDENTIFY YOUR IRRESISTIBLE OFFER?
Get clear on the high-end signature programme or service you deliver and present it as “one offer to one audience". This is the trusted White Paper formula of "one solution to one problem for one audience". It is much more powerful to address one group of people with a "dart to the heart" than swamp all and sundry with "everything I know"!

3.??KNOW HOW YOU WILL PUBLISH AND MARKET before you start writing.?
It may seem like the low risk strategy to just start writing and “see how it goes”, but if you don’t know how you will publish and market, your mind will have plenty of ammunition to question what you are doing and talk you out of it! One of the saddest things I see is when someone has spent years on a book, and may even have published it, but still doesn't know who they are writing to.
4. FOLLOW A PERSONALISED, SABOTAGE- PROOF WRITING PLAN
Your book presents your irresistible offer as a compelling, logical sequential narrative, so that it resonates deeply with your ideal client.??
Unfortunately, most of us do not think in logical, sequential narratives! Your head may be overflowing with concepts and information, but the skill is in knowing how to download that onto the printed page.?The writing plan is a way to organise your content in advance, so that each day you simply follow the plan, and don’t waste time wondering what to write next.?
5. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT YOUR DREAM CLIENTS TO DO WHEN THEY HAVE READ YOUR BOOK?
When they read your book, your ideal clients will recognise you and KNOW they want to work with you. The final chapter of the book is your “how to work with me”, so that your clients can see exactly what you offer and how to contact you.
