What You Need to Know (AI Chatbots + The Rise of GPTs)

The first are my race results from TWENTY YEARS AGO, when I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2003 at age 21.

The second is from this past weekend, almost exactly twenty years later, the NYC Marathon 2023 at age 41.

Between those two, I stopped running.

I worked a zillion hours at a startup.

I moved across the country twice. I had three children.

And by the time I came up for air, I figured I was too old to get back into distance running.

And yet…here I am. And not only am I here, I ran this marathon almost A FULL HOUR faster than when I was 21. Two full minutes per mile.

Never let anyone tell you that you’re too old to do anything, or start a new chapter of your life. And most importantly, never tell yourself that!

• AI Chatbots Continue to Burst onto the Scene - As part of a much larger trend, Elon Musk recently introduced Grok, his own version of an AI chatbot with the objective of "understanding the universe”. Grok's unique character suggests a new trend in AI chatbot personalities, hopefully promoting more innovation where some top AI chatbots have unique characters as well as incredible capabilities.
• The Rise of GPTs - You can now create custom versions of ChatGPT that combine instructions, extra knowledge, and any combination of skills. Need help with your creativity? Need a tech advisor? A negotiator? There will be an app for that! With the release of the GPT store coming later this month, I think this is going to lead to a new boon of innovative products that will be created without much need for coding. The rise of AI assistants is coming!
