For many of us, it's Public Speaking.
Public speaking anxiety, also known as glossophobia, is a common fear experienced by many individuals. While specific statistics may vary depending on the source and methodology of the study, it's estimated that a significant portion of the population experiences some level of fear or anxiety related to public speaking.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), public speaking anxiety affects about 73% of the population. However, it's important to note that this statistic may vary across different demographics, cultures, and regions.
Other surveys and studies have reported similar findings, with estimates ranging from 60% to 75% of individuals experiencing some level of fear or anxiety when speaking in public.
Overall, public speaking anxiety is a common phenomenon that affects a large portion of the population, regardless of age, gender, or occupation. However, with practice, preparation, and support, many individuals can learn to manage and overcome their fear of public speaking.
We all have a fear of being Judged. Fitting into our tribe and community is a big part of what makes us human.
"Most people are afraid of accomplishing their dreams because they are afraid of being judged.
If you never play the game, then you can’t technically “fail,” and you can’t succeed."
One way to get over your fear is a concept called Public Accountability.
Human Beings are innately public people. We have to be in order to survive. Of course, it's easier to isolate, but even introverted people have to interact with human beings at some point in their lives.

My Biggest Fear is how others will perceive me. And how am I able to break the biggest fear of my life? Literally, asking people for money, not for a charity or for a social justice cause, which is a lot easier in my opinion, but to show people my vulnerability and let everyone know. (I've called over 100+ people these last few weeks to share what I am up to and to show people that it's okay to have an off month or even an off year.) One of the problems I see with many coaches is a lack of Doing.
"Being" is intentionality and "Doing" Is Progress. I also get that we are human beings at the end of the day but doing is what actually makes the vision become a reality.
Combined with structures for fulfillment, SMART Goals, a SWOT Analysis, Finding out and documenting our trigger patterns, and then reverse engineering our milestones, we can intentionally create our lives.
If you are struggling with taking action and making significant progress with your vision. Reach out. Fill out this form and I'll set up a call to get to know you better to see how I can support you in becoming the person you are meant to be.

No, the 73% for public speaking anxiety is a bogus statistic not from NIMH but instead from the bozos at Statistic Brain. See my August 14, 2020 blog post titled Toastmaster magazine is spreading nonsense from John Bowe about how common the fear of public speaking is https://joyfulpublicspeaking.blogspot.com/2020/08/toastmaster-magazine-is-spreading.html ?
