What are you learning from COVID-19?

I woke up at the break of dawn and prayed for strength to make it through another day of quarantine. I watched a little news, and listened in awe as they showed a picture of today's "Full Pink Moon" expected to be the first and only one of 2020. At the same time I was reading ISAIAH 26: 1-12 a commentary from Author Karen Burton Mains who is reminding us how we should Greet each Day. Karen said "to raise one's head from the pillow with a glad heart, to watch the clouds roll across the dark sky "now diffusing pink" and to breathe a prayer of gratitude.

Immediately, I pondered, did she just say pink? I ran outside and tried to get a photo but the sun had begun to rise and the Pink Moon was gone. It's expected to be seen again tonight, I will make sure I get my picture. I do not believe in coincidences as many do, and I have read more than one Bible verse that correlates with what is happening in our World today. I do not discuss my findings with many, as I do not believe in pushing my religious or political beliefs on anyone. I can say that no matter what color or ethnicity you are, and what religion you practice, we are all susceptible to COVID-19.

Here is what I have learned thus far; The world will never be the same again. Some people will change for the better, and some will not be effected at all. People who have loss family and friends may lack closure due to the fact that their loved ones are dying alone and unable to have a proper funeral. I am appalled at how some Business have chose to terminate loyal employees as a first solution, and focus on the bottom line. Other employees are being forced to work or lose their jobs in these uncertain times. I am not sure where I will take my career after this. I will not work for anyone who did not put their employees first during this time. I do not know if I want to work for anyone at this point. I love what I do, but right now it's more important that we get through this together. Mental Health Issues will reach an all time high, are employers ready to offer the support that is going to be needed? To sum it up, this is an unprecedented awful situation and the old normal is gone. We are stronger together, and we will get through this. Remember it's okay to not be okay, no matter what anyone else tells you.
