What are you 'known' for?

The other day I was asked what I was 'known' for.
So, like the proverbial Alice in wonderland, I went down a rabbit hole. For DAYS. I was stuck. Most people are experts in a field, or are known for their business or position. As someone who has only recently become a founder, and has worked in various fields and vocations, I just couldn't answer this question.
I wouldn't consider myself 'known' for women's health...yet. However every role I have had has led me to this path, the launch of #eirwomen. I have worked in marketing for 25 years, I was a yoga teacher for ten, have worked in fitness, media, agency and client side. I've always been passionate about health.
So what am I known for? It came down to values...and not necessarily the values I align to now. In fact the closest I got to were from a business I worked in for 5 years - Canon Australia - where their global corporate values reflect how I believe others 'see' myself. Maybe that's why I stuck around for so long.
So this is what I think I am known for (and to be safe I asked a few people):
#integrity - I'm known for always doing the right thing for a company, brand, people or what I am passionate about. This builds trust over time, and has left me with great relationships, from even the most 'complex' of people.
#bravery - I question what we do, and like to take calculated risks. As my late husband always said 'no parachute'.

#imagination - I've always been a creative at heart, and believe success is best achieved by doing things differently. This is what we do now with Eir.
#togetherness - I am a relationships person. I love to laugh with others, and create connection, even though I can also be a complete introvert. I can with joy say that most people who have worked in my teams would work with me again. And I've found when launching this new business that most people I have worked with have wanted to help. It's been so amazing, and something I'm probably most proud of.
#achievement - I'm known for getting things done. Period. Give me a project and I will deliver it, and bring others along for the ride. From complex, top secret launches (Canon), to huge builds on a budget (hello 'whirlwind' on a truck for 2DayFM), creating new products (Pharma) and even website builds that I spent hours watching YouTube video's to learn, I will get it done.
I will however add one more.
#resilience - for many reasons, I'm sure that most people who know me would say I have resilience. Partly this is built in, partly this is by necessity. But that's another article....
So I'm curious. What are you 'known' for?

1 年This one got me thinking Lisa. Trigger warning – I’ve had two friends, very close ones, take their lives this year already and it’s only May. I also have a son with worsening ADHD and myself have Biploar 2 (which is completely under control – hasn’t given me any trouble). I talk about these things openly because I don’t buy into the stigma of mental health – two in five Australians have a diagnosis now so soon we will be in the majority! So what am I known for particularly after a rough couple of months? Being extremely honest about what’s going on in my life. Continuing to try and do it all. The experience of grief and how that actually affects you physically. But if I put on my 23 career hat, I’m a people person. I build relationships based on trust and value exchange. I’m known for generosity of time and advice. I’m definitely good at reading between the lines. And people that work with me want to keep working with me which tells me something. But I will tell you this, I am far from perfect and I have no issue with that. Just try and be my best self every day is all I can do!
