I hope this newsletter find you well! I know it is arriving a bit late. For the past one month or so, I had been?enjoying a free natural sauna in Hanoi?(it's hot and humid here).?Now as I am back to New York and recovered from jet lag, I am also getting back to my rhythm - hence this gentle knock on your inbox :)
In this letter, let's talk about one essential question that everyone should ask themselves in order to live their best life: What if?
While in Vietnam, my family and I had the opportunity to visit Pu Luong, a rural area graced with mountains and valleys and terraced rice fields, about a four-hour?drive from Hanoi.
After?breakfast, we walked around the neighborhood to experience the local life.?At one point, I saw a stream with so clean water flowing between two grassy banks. Further down the road was a group of children who were taking turns diving?into the current, letting it carry them under the little bridge?to the other side, climbing out and?jumping back in with laughter.?
"So dangerous!" My mother-in-law and brother-in-law exclaimed.?
"To us, it may look dangerous, but to them, they are skilled in doing this. Don't worry. The current is not that strong anyway, and?they are having fun," I said.?
"Yeah," my mother-in-law agreed.?
The kids'?clothes were soaked yet their faces shone?with?joy. Life in that moment felt so basic, so simple, yet so fun and happy: feeling the pure mountain water on their bodies, inhaling?fresh air, being with good company, and experiencing?the sensations of being gently carried by nature.?

This made me reflect on my life thus far. When I quit my job at 32, I did have fears: what if I can't be as good as those who have been doing this for years, what if I won't be successful, what if I can't have work life balance... Yet, I managed to turned them around: what if I could be as good as the top experts in the field, what if I will be successful while still having balance...
And this is powerful, my friend. It helped me see more opportunities to validate those new beliefs, turning them into reality and making my fears smaller along the way.?As I stood there, watching the kids doing a few rounds of diving and giggling, I whispered to the mountains and the valleys and the terraced rice fields my what-if's of possibilities.
Share with me your what-if's, would you?
