What are you feeding the energy field of your team/company?

Hello, dear Hearthunter!??

Lately, I had a lot of very interesting conversations with leaders, fellow HR professionals and investors about our views on organizations, teams and connecting people in general.

I absolutely love talking about the team's energetic field and offering another perspective on understanding team dynamics. Because of my highly empathetic nature (and my interdisciplinary experiences), I'm able to feel an individual's energies and recognize solutions to challenges, where they might don't see them.

Why is that? Most of the time it's because solutions are shown outside of their field of awareness. And I'm here to help expand that field so they can see a new set of solutions and use them in practice.

James K. Clifton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Gallup Organization once said:

Successful organizations can learn to build sustainable growth by harnessing the power of human emotions. Companies need to discover a new way to manage human nature and unlock human potential.

Team Energy Field

In HeartMath the term " heart coherence" refers to a balanced inner state - a state where the individual heart, mind, emotions and physical systems are in sync. When that is the case a person's energetic field is "positive", filled with "positive vibrations" and creating a "positive energy field" around them.

An incoherent state on the other hand means, that there is a discord/imbalance between those inner players and yes, you guess it right - the result is usually not so positive.

So, if we know that when we put together individual parts, we get a whole, we can say that individual energy fields make up the collective energy field or collective consciousness.

What does that mean?

That means that EVERY company with people out there has its own energy field! Yep, yours also. If you are aware of it or not. HeartMath experts are explaining all this under the term "social coherence" (check out the video at the bottom of the article), but it's not really important how we call it - the most important goal of this article is that you are aware of "the field" existence.

So, some of you might ask: "Why should I care?"

And I can answer: "Because it can help your team to be more productive/effective! That's probably something every leader wants, right?" ??

Let me share with you a mindblowing study that shows how shifting into a heart-coherent state can help uplift others to become more coherent.

The following experiment illustrates that we can affect others by what we “feed

the field.”

  • In this study, participants were organized into groups with four people in each group. Each group of four was seated around a table with each person wearing a heart rhythm monitor to measure his or her heart rate variability (HRV) and coherence levels.
  • Two weeks earlier, three of the four people in each group had been taught how to shift into a heart-coherent state.
  • The three people who had learned how to get coherent were instructed to shift in and out of a coherent state at random times.
  • The fourth person had no knowledge of what the other three were doing.
  • When the three participants shifted into a more coherent state, the fourth person was more likely to become more coherent.

Practically stated, the results of this study show that when we are in a heart coherent state, we create a coherent field environment, that can help a person having a tough time regaining his or her balance and composure.

This illustrates that one of the best things we can do to support one another is to maintain our personal coherence.

So, how the hell did they do that???

Simple, they have used Shift and Lift? Technique.

Shift and Lift? Technique

The Shift and Lift Technique was designed to be practised with eyes open, in the moment.??It's a technique that can raise your vibration and have an uplifting effect on you and others. You can “feed the field” higher vibrations. Let me emphasize that there are numerous other ways to raise personal/group vibes (of course I have no idea about a lot of them), but since I'm a certified HeartMath trainer I feel competent enough to tell you more about this one.??

Let's begin...

Step 1. Heart-Focused Breathing.

Focus your attention on the area of the heart. Imagine your breath is flowing in and out of your heart or chest area, breathing a little slower and deeper than usual. Find an easy rhythm that’s comfortable.

Step 2. Activate feelings of kindness, appreciation, genuine connection, and an attitude of deep listening.

Suggestion: If you can’t connect with a heart feeling, try to recall a time when you felt a kind, deeper connection with someone. If that is challenging, just breathe appreciation for something for awhile to help raise your vibration and to help settle your energies.

Step 3. Radiate these heart qualities to raise your vibration and help lift the energy field environment that surrounds you.

So let's see some results of this magical approach.

Five Global Companies

In a large study conducted in five different global companies in Europe and the US, heart-coherence training produced some significant results in personal and workplace coherence. The composite data from pre- and post-psychometric assessments of over 5,700 individuals found that, in just six to nine weeks, practising HeartMath coherence tools (there are many) produced the following average outcomes in people who reported having these symptoms often to always:

  • 44% drop in fatigue;
  • 52% drop in anxiety;
  • 60% drop in anger;
  • 60% drop in depression;
  • 33% improvement in sleep.

There were also improvements in physical health in people who reported having these symptoms often to always:

  • 44% drop in body aches and pains;
  • 43% reduction in indigestion;
  • 63% reduction in rapid heartbeats; and
  • 44% drop in muscle tension.

Post-assessments done again after six months and then again after one year by some of the organizations showed sustained improvements.

Participants also reported a significant decrease in overwhelm and intent to leave their job. What was interesting is that one company manager told that some employees continued to practice the tools they learned while many others didn’t (that would be a typical response to any training program anyway) Nevertheless, improvements continued and were sustained across the entire population of participants.??

Other company managers/leaders commented that something in the overall energetic environment changed through the efforts made by only a portion of the people, which made it easier for others to achieve positive benefits.

This intriguing finding conveys the potential of social coherence and seems to confirm what was observed in the study mentioned above.

The prospect of a "positive energy field" multiplier effect is exciting to organizations that want to create a healthier and more caring culture. ??

We can improve the field by taking responsibility for our own energy, thoughts and emotions.

Pretty cool right???

?? Amazing Article - I'm currently writing a story about human nature which is very similar to yours - when it comes to what this really means (human nature) to me. Another way to raise your own vibration as you describe in step 2 would be to connect with yourself when you were a child (for some this may be easier) or an adult in a situation where you were simply fully enjoying yourself .....and not just visualize, but using all your senses to make this 'picture' as vivid as possible...
