What You Don’t Know About Billkin in How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies

Grandma Taew, who plays Amah, had never met Billkin before. The first time she learned she would be working with him, she was nervous and excited. She even worried that she wouldn’t be able to portray an ‘Amah’ alongside Billkin very well.

But after their first workshop together, they broke the ice by playing slap game. Thanks to Billkin’s easygoing nature, Grandma Taew relaxed a lot and even said, ‘It feels like I’m playing with my real grandson!’

Since Grandma Taew is a newcomer to acting, filming with Billkin (which basically happens in almost every scene) meant a lot of retakes.

But Billkin had her back. He’d lean in and whisper, 'You got this, Grandma!' while flashing a supportive smile every time. Billkin has said that the whole vibe on set is all about encouragement. In fact, he also got his own dose of ‘good vibes’ from director Pat, who wasn’t shy about giving him a hug when needed.

Director Pat shared that Billkin is the kind of person with next-level people skills. No matter how much teasing or joking around happens on set, no one ever gets mad — because Billkin’s playful charm is just part of his magic.

What’s even more impressive? Billkin genuinely cares about the crew. He remembers the little things about everyone — what they like, what they don’t — making him the perfect ‘grandson’ of the set.

There were a few scenes in How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies where Billkin improvised, adding his own touch to the script. Director Pat was all for it, trusting Billkin’s instincts as an actor.

One such moment was a scene where M has to take care of an ailing Amah. Pat gave Billkin the freedom to explore how his character would react in that situation. The result? Everyone was shocked when Billkin ended up picking up Amah and carrying her — something that wasn’t in the script. Billkin explained afterward that in that moment, he felt M would’ve made the same decision, given the circumstances.

In How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, the story revolves around a Thai-Chinese family. So, whenever there were Chinese words or pronunciations Billkin wasn’t sure about, he had the real-life 'Papa' and 'Amah' (his actual family) on hand to help him out.

For example, the word "Chì Chāo" — the one that many people have probably heard their own grandmothers complain about a million times — was something Billkin only learned about for the first time while working on this film!
