What are you doing Broadcom?

After Broadcom acquired Vmware the market dramatically changed directions. Concerned about our upcoming Vmware renewal we began to request a quote expecting a huge increase in our annual renewal. We were not disappointed the price doubled and the features were reduced for a double whammy.

We decided to consult the experts at Gartner Group and see what is going on in the hypervisor space. It looks like Broadcom is keeping all the top-tier customers and abandoning the smaller customers like universities. This is leaving a huge void in the $3 billion Hypervisor market.

I think the hypervisor landscape will look very different in six months. Luckily we have a few months to see how this will play out. Other organizations might not be so lucky.
