What will you do when you think you can "transcreation" but not very sure?

We have met one sample related to transcreation recently which made me have something want to share. It is one translation project from English into Chinese in market field about one promotion. The translator made one comment that he has translated the "seasonal glof promotion" into "Winter glof promotion" directly in Chinese, the reason was that the promotion's validity period was 30th, Febuary noticed in this file which is Winter season in client's country. I thought that made sense, then delivered the translation with the comment "We translated the "Seasonal glof promotion into Winter promotion according to the context". But the client let us change the translation according to the source meaning straightforward as "seasonal'", the reason was that they didn't sure if the promotion was for winter or summer.

There are two reasons why client ask us to change. The first may be that client doesn't understand what I mean by "context", I shall also point out the text about the validity period, so client can understand better because sometimes client may not check the details content of the source file and don't understand what you say. The second reason is that client think it is better to keep same with source file, different people have different views about the translation.

So the most important thing is to check with client, let them know your comment and ask they to choose the final translation when you meet such situation in your work.
