What You Did Not Know Yet About Out-of-the-Box-Thinking
It sounds like the holy grail: You “just” need to know some basic laws and you’ll get a factor two or three out of your business. Such an increase for example in revenue can easily be realized. But to realize it, you just need to find the leverage point. The leverage point of any system is its constraint. Next to the fact that every system has its constraint, it doesn’t hurt to know another law: the connection of lead time (of an item), work in process and throughput. I bet you’re curious now and maybe a little bit suspicious. “It sounds too good to be true” I hear you say! And you know what? I don’t blame you.
If something sounds too good to be true we think “it’s a scheme”! They don’t have proof for sure. Well on my quest to find that proof and I have interviewed Kenneth Tyler, one of the core members of?BlueDolphin powered by ChangeBase. BlueDolphin is a network based on the Theory of Constraints (TOC; Eliyahu M. Goldratt) and Self-Organization (Haken & Schiepek). I’ve cut the interview in small chunks and I hope you’ll learn as much as I did.
You'll find a small summary and the link to the original post.
If you're asking yourself why I am connected to BlueDolphin and what BlueDolphin has to do with?#BringLoveToBusiness, I like to explain with the following picture:
To get free capacity, to get free thoughts and hearts, a good flow management should be in place. Only then the company will really be able to transform. So for me BlueDolphin helps to build the sound foundation that will hold the house I want to build.
Here are the parts of the interview:
1: Who is Kenneth Tyler and why can you profit from his experience?
Learn from the life's experiance of an "old programmer" and understand what he has to offer.
2: Why is the right way always counter-intuitive and how can canging your mindset mean a leap for your business?
How can you think inside and outside of a box at the same time? How can you get in a state of flow and how can the outcome profit by it? And why you should always work as a team.
3: What's so special about the Theory of Constraints and how could you benefit?
This part is full of knowlede: What's the Sandwich-Theory and how is it connected to TOC? How does BlueDolphin help you solve problems using TOC and self-organization? How can you use the power of language to make things better? What can be learned by domain-driven design?
4: What's Ken's best TOC implementation example?
Usually people doing the work also know how to solve their problems. But they don't get to it and they need help from outside. How can BlueDolphin help to get back on track again and why is it so nice working together with BlueDolphin?
5: What Does BlueDolphin mean to Ken and how could it transform your business?
Ken talks about why BlueDolphin is so important to him.
