What Are You Creating?
There’s a word I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. As someone who believes greatly in the immense power of words — individually or when deliberately strung together — I’ve found that some can take on more meaning than initially meets the eye (or ear).
Create
What are you creating?
Take a moment and think about what that question means to you.
Now take another minute to ponder what other meaning it could take on.
Cool. I’m 100% sure you participated, so thanks.
Creation is the difference between existing and growing. It’s the difference between maintaining the status quo and trying new things. It’s the difference between people who have things happen to them and those who make things happen. It takes many forms.
Creating can mean building relationships that didn’t previously exist. Spending time at a special event, meeting new people and learning/teaching/sharing creates new connections and often new ideas for everyone.
Creating can mean constructing something tangible; it can mean spending a Saturday building a bird house and learning through the process (is there a more cliché build than a bird house?).
Creating can mean generating opportunities for yourself. Working on projects that showcase your work (often then in conjunction with meeting people) can create job opportunities, social opportunities, and growth opportunities.
Creating can mean crafting your body into the being you want to be. Create new PRs, create a slimmer or faster version of yourself, create definition you’ve never seen in the mirror before.
Creating can mean influencing a moment. You can create a smile or positive interaction and change someone’s day (and yours as well) with very little effort.
Creating can mean making a plan. What is important right now? Which pieces of your complex life will you address this week? And of course, what will you create next?
Creating means you’re adding new value to the world and new value to your life. Creation, by definition, means that your actions have brought something into existence, and growth rarely comes from what already exists. Creating can take many forms and looks different for every single person, but it generates similar results for everyone. Knowledge. Progress. Change. Improvement.
Ask yourself today and again each morning: “What am I creating right now?” What will be new in your life by the end of the day, the week, the year? Perhaps you’ll have something tangible to show, or maybe you’ll have a greater network of friends, a new job, or a deeper, more meaningful relationship. Only you now how it looks, but it doesn’t happen to you, it happens because of you. Go create.

Hey, I’m Chris. I created Life In Questions in hopes of helping people to think a little bit differently. I’m all about people, learning, sports, and the game of life. I believe that our minds shape how we live, act, and behave, and that by being more aware of ourselves, we can live happier and more successful lives.
