What Are You Committed To?
What are you committed to?
A day or two ago I returned from being with John Maxwell,?Jon Gordon, Malcolm Gladwell and Michael Jr. in Orlando, FL.?More about these people and our time together at another time.
Each day while traveling I was committed to getting to the fitness center by 0530 or earlier. The goal was to get in a cardio workout of some type to get the blood flowing, the heart pumping and the lungs providing oxygen to my human system early in the day.
I find this to be an effective way to start my day even when traveling.
This is the time to state this article is not an advertisement paid or free. It has not been solicited by a vendor or a company and no one is being asked to purchase anything. If you do it’s because you did on your own without any advice from me or anyone from my organization.
As part of my regular routine I’m a Peloton fan.
Yes we have the physical bike and we each have our instructors that we ride with in their classes both the recorded ones and the live ones when possible.
The ‘we’ is my wife Patty Ann, known online as?Dr. Patty Ann. She is the one who originally influenced me to get on the Peloton and try it.
In the very beginning the music, the messaging from the instructors and their personal stories interspersed with the commands or suggestions as some say for what we should be doing on the bike were the main attraction.
Over a period of time the actual workouts?became a key aspect of my growing Peloton addiction.

A few key contributing factors came together right around the same time to get me hooked.
The Covid-19 lockdown started in March of?2020.
I became a stroke survivor in December of 2019.
The Covid-19 lockdown meant no fitness centers were open. There was no where to go to workout indoors.
It was March in the Northeast so it was cold outside. A key scheduled activity in my life was what time was I going to workout at the fitness center.?Once the initial PT, physical therapy, coverage and work ended, the only way I was going to get back to somewhere close to where I was before was to intentionally focus on certain items every single day.
These items were each of the five senses – sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. Critical to focus on as well were physical motor skills?which included – movement of all body parts, stretching, speaking and balance.
In addition, mental stimulation and thinking are super important. As it turned out the activities on the Peloton cover a?number of these areas. Which is why one day soon, this week in fact, I’ll be riding my 3,000th ride on the Peloton bike.
More importantly?will be the total number of workouts which will be 6,250!
Made up of running, walking, yoga, strength, stretching, meditation?and cycling. Plus there’s more to try in the future as my journey with?Peloton continues.
Let me ask you now – what are you committed to?
Why?
