When we were kids, we hear the words "study well, grow up and get a good job".
Now that when we are grown up and accomplished , I am going to tell you to- "Be child-like and achieve success in career and life!"
Why is it that the saying got reversed? what is the benefit of being child-like?
Recently I attended a professional event on coaching. There was an 11 year old kid who was with the organizer volunteers. He was very active and smart.
During the event, I observed quiet a few things from this child's behavior.
1. Compassion: He was very generous in helping others. He does not hesitate a moment to offer help. He observe people keenly and often read the unsaid words too, and offered help even before they ask. Being compassionate in today's world is a worthy quality.
During childhood, many kids have traits of compassion. We too might have had it in good amount.. But when grew up, we start to slowly lose those core values.
Question to contemplate: What good quality that we had as children, has been lost in the journey of life. Is it possible to revive those?
2. Curiosity: 'Curiosity of a child' is a common analogy we hear in many situations. I could really witness that in this child, If any activity has been announced or any question been asked, he will be the first to raise his hand. With no second thought the child does that. The curiosity to know & to learn is in its pure form, in a child. If we can imbibe such level of curiosity, life will be simple, active, energetic and very lively.

Question to contemplate: How curious are you in your workplace tasks?
3. Being Fearless: Fearless in this context is, to act fearlessly, even in the presence of others. As an adult, the first thing comes to most of the people's mind, when asked for an activity, is to look around and see if anyone else does it. Or, look around and see if any one else asks a question. But this child didn't wait for others, he did what he wanted to do/ask/participate , no hold backs.
I felt this as a good quality. Many times, I too hesitate, look around for others, to act first. But if I act first, it is a different feeling.
Question to contemplate: How many times you with hold your vibrant response, thinking what other's will think?
Why to look around? Instead, Look within...
If You want to do, do it...
Cultivate fearlessness.
Curiosity with fearlessness is a wonderful combination that can give amazing results.
There can be many things we can learn from a child. If you observe them, you can find out many such qualities that can be of use to us as adults, which can motivate us. Learn from them, get inspired from them..
Evoke the child in You!

1 年Beautify write-up, Remya. I believe parents and the school are instrumental in encouraging. this fearlessness and curiosity. Kudos to the parents for this wonderful upbringing where every question is listened and responded to.
