What you can also be, WHILE being racist...
You can be funny.
You can be loving and caring (to some people).
You can be smart.
You can be a great friend.
You can be helpful.
You can be a great teacher, father, mother, wife, or husband.
You can be friendly and outgoing.
You can be delightful to be around.
You can be a positive person.
You can be talented and successful.
You can be rich.
You can be poor.
You can be a Christian.
You can be Atheist.
You can be ________ (fill in the blank).
Listen, all racists are not evil, angry, hateful people in the KKK.
You can be racist, and be a cool person, with a great personality, and positive character qualities.
All racists are not people who walk around screaming, “I hate black people!”, and using the “N” word.
Nope. They are your friends, your co-workers, family members, your boss, your neighbor, they are you; regular, every day, "nice people", who have implicit and unconscious biases that lead to racist thoughts, actions, microaggressions, cultural appropriation, prejudice, discrimination, as well as the upholding of systemic and institutional racism, at every level of society.
Ignorance is bliss for you, and death and/or oppression for me and other BIPOC.
Please don’t count yourself out because you have black friends, you adopted a black child, or your spouse/significant other is black.
You have deep, internal, anti-racism work to do, that you’re probably not even aware of.
I’m here to help you on your journey.
