What Are You Afraid Of?

Let’s face it, many of us love to be in control. But, our desire for control is not about the control, it’s about what we think the control gets us – protection. Control is our tool for protection and thus, we don’t actually fear the “loss of control” but instead what might happen if we’re not in control. However, this desire to maintain safety and protection doesn’t make it safe, and it certainly doesn’t give us control over the uncontrollable. Instead of worrying about control, get clear on what you want and then focus on the one thing (person) that you do control (you).
Face the fear of the unknown and allow yourself to be unprotected. You may want to avoid the risks, but the risks are always there, even when you choose to play small. Plus, where’s the fun, joy or impact in playing small?
