What are you afraid of?

Fear of Failure

Fear can stop you from reaching your goals.?Learning how to overcome your fear is one of the most liberating pursuits to undertake.?Treat fear as a cue to take action not as an excuse.

When you learn to distinguish the signs of your fear conquering your fear comes naturally.?There are many kinds of fear.

Physical fear can take the form of phobias:?fear of heights, spiders, enclosed spaces and public speaking are a few well-known phobias.?You might experience sweaty hands, dizziness and feel tension in your muscles.?These are the results of the ‘fight or flight’ response.?This fear response protects you form danger.?Yet, in modern times fear can take many forms.

Anxiety

Anxiety is like long-term fear.?Anxiety and stress can have long term consequences.?When you’re stressed your body releases a chemical called cortisol.?Too much cortisol causes sleeping problems, weight gain and it even affects the immune system.

Fear of uncertainty

Many people are driven for the need of certainty.?They don’t want to get out of their comfort zone and try something new, and this is the reason they feel stuck and unable to achieve their goals.

Fear of failure

We are wired to avoid pain and gain pleasure.?We want to feel important but failure makes us seem small and insignificant.?How can we overcome fear??Can you harness the fear response and use it to your advantage??

Here are some tips to overcome fear

1.????Identify your fears

Does your fear come from public speaking in English??Are you afraid that you aren’t being understood??Identify your challenge in order to overcome it.?Consider spending a few minutes quietly and observe your thoughts and bodily sensations.?As you explore your challenges you’ll feel ready to confront your fears.

2.???Recognize that fear can be your ally

Your emotions and feelings exist to tell you things.?If you look at your persistent anxiety as a piece of information instead of a threat your anxiety can become a source of guidance to reach your full potential.

3.????What is the root of your fear?

Take a few minutes to reflect on what causes your fear.?Is it fear of failure??Is it fear of uncertainty??A moment of reflection can have a great effect on overcoming fear in a way that is productive, deliberate and effective.

4.????Create goals that are insightful

Ask yourself if your goal is attainable.?Consider your present situation and compare it with what life would look like if you achieve your goal.?Dig deeper into your goal.?Do you dream of working internationally and your goal is English fluency???Is it financial independence to travel anywhere??If you accomplish this, will you feel fulfilled??If you don’t will you feel lost??Once you feel that your goal is essential, then you’ll be inspired to act.

5.????Are you making excuses?

This stuff isn’t for me.?I haven’t got time.?You have probably said those things out loud to yourself.?It’s easier to make excuses than working long hours and making the effort to reach your goal.?But excuses will leave you feeling unfulfilled.?If you haven’t got time assess your priorities to make time.?Next time excuses pay you a visit just ignore them because they won’t help you achieve your goals in the long term.

6.????Surround yourself with success

Surround yourself with like minded people.?These are people that you admire and they’ll push you to achieve your goals.?To overcome your fear surround yourself with positive influences.?You’ll feel energized and motivated spending time with these people.

7.????Use pain points as an insight

Life isn’t a bed or roses.?All of us face setbacks personally and professionally. Don’t let the uncertainty and fear of your past experiences interfere with your future goals.

8.????Visualize your goals

If your fear is speaking in English in front of an audience visualize your goal and focus on it.?Where focus goes, energy flows.?You can see yourself giving an excellent speech and interacting with your audience.?Visualize the talking points, picture your hand motions?and imagine looking at everyone as you speak.?

Go through the entire presentation in your mind focusing on each step and how you’ll feel.?Visualization helps you achieve your goals by conditioning your brain to see, hear and feel the success in your mind.

9.????Accept your failure

Failure is a better teacher than success.?You learn from your failures.?Everyone fails.?Successful leaders, businesses, artists, doctors and scientists.?If you accept from the beginning that failure is an inevitable part of success then you’ll be less afraid of it.?

Learning different mindfulness exercises may help you deal with anxiety or avoidance related to your fear of failure.?Relaxation techniques like breathing or yoga and meditation can?be effective.?Regular exercise is also a good way to manage anxiety in the long ran.

We face our fears for a reason.?It helps us to grow.?If you don’t overcome your fear you’ll never move from where you are. Thus, tap into your own inner growth and become a person of action, change and success.
