What Will You Be Able to Do at Age 100? Let’s Start Preparing Now

As one of the founders of HealthTouch Urgent Care, my passion is optimizing the health span of communities where we locate a care center. But when I think about my own future, especially reaching the milestone age of 100, I have one key question: What will I still be able to do? OK, maybe I won’t make it to 100; how about 75 or 80?

At HealthTouch Urgent Care, we envision a future where communities are supported with the tools to optimize their health and well-being. ?While our first urgent care center is on the horizon, our mission remains the same: to bridge the gap between the urgent healthcare needs of overlooked communities and a proactive, longevity-focused approach.

Inspired by Dr. Peter Attia’s concept of the Centenarian Decathlon, I’ve started thinking deeply about the specific activities I want to perform efficiently when I reach 100 years old (or 75 or 80). My personal list, which is similar to Dr. Attia's list, includes:

  1. Lifting my 30-pound future great-grandchild from the floor to my arms.
  2. Climbing several flights of stairs without assistance.
  3. Walking a brisk mile in under 20 minutes.
  4. Getting up from the floor independently after playing with family.
  5. Carrying a bag of groceries from the car to the kitchen confidently.
  6. Hiking the complete orange trail at Sweetwater State Park in Georgia.
  7. Standing on one leg for 30 seconds without losing balance.
  8. Dancing for 30 minutes at a family gathering without tiring.
  9. Lifting and placing a 25-pound suitcase into an overhead compartment.
  10. Still doing deadlifts.

This complete decathlon encompasses strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, and the joy of engaging with life’s everyday moments.

These goals are not just about independence - they symbolize a life fully lived, engaging with family and my community. The good news? We can prepare for a vibrant, capable future just as we plan for professional success or financial stability.

Stretching and dynamic movements keep your joints agile, preventing stiffness.

A diet rich in whole foods, lean protein, and healthy fats fuels your journey toward longevity.
