What Will You Be Able to Do at Age 100? Let’s Start Preparing Now
HealthTouch Urgent Care
The Convergence of Urgent Care, Healthcare Technology, HealthSpan Optimization, and Real Estate
By Derek P. Pollard, HealthTouch Urgent Care
As one of the founders of HealthTouch Urgent Care, my passion is optimizing the health span of communities where we locate a care center. But when I think about my own future, especially reaching the milestone age of 100, I have one key question: What will I still be able to do? OK, maybe I won’t make it to 100; how about 75 or 80?
At HealthTouch Urgent Care, we envision a future where communities are supported with the tools to optimize their health and well-being. ?While our first urgent care center is on the horizon, our mission remains the same: to bridge the gap between the urgent healthcare needs of overlooked communities and a proactive, longevity-focused approach.
Inspired by Dr. Peter Attia’s concept of the Centenarian Decathlon, I’ve started thinking deeply about the specific activities I want to perform efficiently when I reach 100 years old (or 75 or 80). My personal list, which is similar to Dr. Attia's list, includes:
This complete decathlon encompasses strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, and the joy of engaging with life’s everyday moments.
These goals are not just about independence - they symbolize a life fully lived, engaging with family and my community. The good news? We can prepare for a vibrant, capable future just as we plan for professional success or financial stability.
The HealthTouch Vision: Empowering Longevity
As we prepare to launch our first care center, we’re laying the foundation for a comprehensive HealthTouch Ecosystem that will support you in achieving goals like these through an integrated, forward-focused approach:
What Would You Like to Do at 100? Or 70 or 80?
Take a moment to envision your later years. What matters most? Do you want to garden, hike, dance, or play with great-grandchildren on the floor? Whatever your goals, the time to start is now.
How to Begin Preparing for Your Decathlon
To help you live a fulfilling life, we encourage these steps:
1.???Start Strength Training:
Exercises like squats, deadlifts, and push-ups build functional strength to combat age-related muscle loss.

2.???Enhance Balance and Stability:
Yoga, tai chi, or balance drills reduce fall risks and improve coordination.
3.???Build Cardiovascular Endurance:
Regular aerobic activity strengthens your heart and lungs, supporting a brisk walk or hike in later years.
4.???Improve Mobility and Flexibility:
Stretching and dynamic movements keep your joints agile, preventing stiffness.
5.???Monitor and Adjust Nutrition:
A diet rich in whole foods, lean protein, and healthy fats fuels your journey toward longevity.
6.???Track Your Progress:
Leverage wearable technology or our upcoming HealthTouch Dashboard to measure and celebrate milestones.
7.???Engage a Health Community:
Join HealthTouch’s future subscription programs to stay motivated and connected to others pursuing similar goals.
It’s Never Too Early to Start
Longevity is not a gift - it results from intentional actions taken today. While HealthTouch prepares to open its doors, we’re already designing tools, programs, and resources to guide you in training for your personal Centenarian Decathlon.
