What Yoga Taught me About Business

What Yoga Taught me About Business

I've been attempting yoga for the last five years, you wouldn't know it by watching me but it's become part of my daily routine. I do a 30-45 minute session either in person or virtually with Lisa every day and we are each other's accountability partners both when we are together and telecommuting. Last week while lying on the mat staring at the ceiling thinking about metaphors I realized how many parallels there were between business and yoga so here is our list:

  1. Yoga is a great way to work with my mind and body, clear the clutter from it, and find some peace. In business, decluttering your workspace, your office, even your daily operations can also open pathways for clarity, insights, and opportunities that otherwise would have been inhibited. Your business does not have to mirror a losing game of Jumanji.
  2. Yoga has taught me how to move my body in rhythm with life's purpose. Better understanding your business, like your accounting for example, can enable your business to work more efficiently and rhythmically and help us discover the road of least resistance.
  3. Yoga has been a fantastic way for me to practice being present in the moment. This can help you be more productive and reach your goals when thinking of all that is going on around us instead of what we are currently doing at hand. It's said, multitasking like monkey mind is distracting and unproductive as it takes away from our productivity by keeping us unfocused or scattered with thoughts about everything else, learning how to focus helps bring clarity back into life so we may stay centered which greatly improves one's ability to accomplish anything they set their minds to!
  4. Ever try holding a headstand on a beach? I've learned to use yoga as a tool for patience and resilience by learning how to use my breath as a tool of cessation and relaxation. When I'm feeling stressed out in work or facing adversity, I use breathwork until the tension dissipates from my mind. Using this mindfulness has allowed me to become more compassionate towards others and myself during difficult times in life
  5. Yoga has been scientifically shown to reduce anxiety, and I think the best part about doing yoga regularly is how much calmer it makes you throughout your day-to-day life. Staying calm in business is critical for decision making; relationship building and quality of work.
  6. Yoga can be done anywhere, anytime, truthfully five minutes of yoga sometimes is all I need to change the trajectory of my day. Yoga teaches us to stay true and committed to our beliefs, even when we are alone. In turn, yoga has helped me appreciate my individuality and conviction of choices I make, to avoid falling prey to comparisonitis or group think and just focusing on the things that directly affect my ethos.
  7. Yoga has indirectly taught me to be more flexible - not just physically, but in my mind and how I respond and react to external factors - like impatience and weariness or distractions in the middle of my practice or any other uncontrollable circumstances that pop up. Any entrepreneur knows well that running a business is filled with daily acts of chaos and fluctuation - a lot of which is out of our control. Yet, like in yoga, we always have a choice in how we respond to this chaos.?
  8. Yoga has taught me that I need to be more confident in myself and my abilities, as demonstrated by a recent Gomukhasana vinyasa stretch where the head is placed under one's testicles - if you can do that, there’s a good chance you can do anything. Building confidence can lead you through nearly every aspect of your business from relationships, negotiations, adversity management all the way to controlling a room - it really never ends.
  9. When I practice yoga, not only do my body and mind feel more relaxed afterward but it also helps me make better decisions in business. If you're constantly stressed out about deadlines or angry circumstances out of your control then nothing good will come from any decisions that are made under duress. Luckily though there's a simple solution to this problem: go get some yoga done!
  10. Yogas has taught me balance - literally and metaphorically. I am a firm believer that in order to be successful, you have to keep things balanced. When work takes up so much of our time it's easy for other important aspects like friendships or family to become neglected but just the opposite is also an issue—when we're too busy playing all the time then there isn't enough room left over for success! It's essential that whatever "balance" works best for each individual person should be followed because when you find your own personal brand of equilibrium it will provide endless benefits both personally and professionally on top of making sure neither end gets lost!
  11. Community yoga is a great way to meet other interesting people. I've never been in any kind of community where there are mean-spirited people, Yoga centers included! By networking with like-minded individuals you can strengthen your business and cultivate new relationships that will help it grow exponentially in the future. and you get slight adjustments.
  12. Yoga pants are the new black and they make me look good. With a healthy business image, you not only have to project an aesthetically pleasing image to your customers but also help them achieve that in return.
  13. Yoga is a practice that teaches us how to enjoy the process, rather than focusing on reaching an end goal. Yoga has taught me this through my own experiences of persistence and flexibility in achieving challenging poses I never thought possible for myself. Success doesn't happen overnight; it's about taking things one step at a time, failing along the way but learning from each lesson learned to grow with creativity and resilience until we succeed in our goals!
  14. As a business owner, you might experience many different types of challenges throughout your career. Yoga teaches us that sometimes it can be beneficial and even necessary to let go of things in order for yourself or the company as a whole to become better. For example, recently I received some really bad news about my prospecting efforts - they were unsuccessful! As hard as this is personally (because building relationships with prospects takes time), if we take ourselves out of ego-mode and acknowledge what was learned from this situation then there will always be an opportunity ahead after letting go.

There are many benefits to practicing yoga. You can start from either a physical class at a studio or an online option like All Yoga out of Beverly Hills that offers classes, meditations,? and workouts all for the fraction of cost compared with joining gym memberships.

There is no place you cannot practice - any time zone, space availability (room in your home), etc. While there may be some challenges learning this new skill initially, it will only benefit you in the long run because once practiced regularly it becomes much easier over time as body-mind connection grows stronger month after month depending on how dedicated one remains... so just do it! Yoga can have a powerful effect on your life if you practice it consistently over time - just like learning any new skill or trade must go hand-in-hand with consistent dedication and effort for results.
