Dear XIR –

It is my absolute honor to officially welcome you to Dear XIR: THE newsletter for B2B leaders building at the intersection. Thank you for not only trusting me to guide you, but for also joining me on this crazy ass ride of building differently.

In my overexcitement last week, I came out the gate a little too hot and forgot to even mention what an XIR is lol. Fret not – I got you.

But first, let's talk about intersections.

In B2B (and in life), I firmly believe that exponential growth happens at intersections – not in silos. That multiple things can be true at the same time.

Case in point: 2024 was by far the second hardest AND arguably best year of my life.

Let me explain.

After I left Brex in November 2023, I genuinely thought something was wrong with me. Though I literally had it all – dream job, dream apartment, dream city – I wanted to try something different than what I’d been doing for the last 2 years as an XIR.

In that transition, my goal was to double down on my investment thesis and focus on content as a channel for growth. So I joined a company to do just that...and left within 2 months. Something just wasn’t aligning.

A couple months later, same story. Found an amazing company, made some noise, created some impact, and ended up leaving because again… it just wasn't right.

I kept asking: what is the deal? What's wrong with me? I'd literally just driven $30M for a $12B fintech, yet I couldn't align with these new companies to save my life!

Then, the Friday before my 34th birthday, I was reading and meditating under a tree in Brasil (this is a real story – I swear this happened lol) when everything became clear.
