“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” Jim Rohn
We have said it again and again. There is so much to be gained by taking some steps to look after your health.
Everything from your confidence, energy, strength, relationships (with yourself and others), the way you experience your daily life to your work performance can only benefit by increased health.
Which is great to know, and maybe you’ve convinced yourself of the benefits of an improved health regime. But, you’re unsure around what you should do to make sure you’re taking the steps to prioritise your health?
In Atomic Habits, James Clear gives an example of a friend of his who lost 100lbs by continually asking herself;
“What would a healthy person do?”
Then actually applying what a healthy person does.
Simple but not easy.
However, if you were to start applying this question to your daily life, and it made a difference to even 60% of your decisions, do you see it having an impact on your health, fitness and quality of life?
The following is just a quick example of some of the decisions you are faced with on a daily basis:
- What you eat when you wake up.
- Do you load sugar into your morning coffee?

- Are you thinking fruit or a sugary snack on your break?
- Where do you go for lunch?
- Are you hydrating with water or something like Coke throughout your day?
- Do you go and get your workout done or do you head for home to scroll on the couch?
- Do you have a few drinks every evening “to wind down”.
- How about your veg intake with dinner.
- Do you give yourself the chance to get to bed early to get all the benefits of a solid sleep routine?
The above are just 9 examples of opportunities to consider what a healthy person would do.
Start getting on track with 5 – 6 a day and you’ll be headed in the right direction.
And if you have ideas as to what you could improve but are thinking you’ll “wait until the New Year”, maybe consider:
