What the World Really Needs Now is Remarkable Leadership

I've spent the last 25 years working with a variety of leaders and can say that many are competent, but few are remarkable.

I woke up this morning thinking, "Boy, if there was ever a time when we need remarkable leadership, this is it." With so much uncertainty in the world, we need leaders to step up and actually lead.

Now and again, I see pockets of great leadership. The good news is that you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to really shine here.

Here’s what separates remarkable leaders from the pack.

1. Passion. Remarkable leaders love what they do, and it shows. They come to work everyday, excited to be there. Their enthusiasm is contagious.
2. Determination. Remarkable leaders are determined to succeed. Some have faced adverse conditions that most of us can't even imagine. Yet, they didn’t allow anything or anyone to get in their way.
3. Life Learners. These people read and attend leadership courses because they want to. Not because they have to. They see an opportunity to learn, and they take it.
4. Risk Takers. Leadership isn’t for the faint of heart. Remarkable leaders put themselves out there, not knowing what the day will bring. And then they do this again and again.
5. The desire to teach others. Remarkable leaders are willing to teach what they know to others. They're also open to learning from the very people they manage.
6. Willingness to admit fault. Remarkable leaders are willing to say, "Hey, I got this wrong." Followed by, "I'll do better next time."
