What in the world is going on? An effort to make sense of the recent global developments

Is anyone currently really upset about the Egyptian or Roman Empire no longer existing? Are there still those who are determined to bring the Prussian or Habsburg Empires back? Not really, right?

It has been already established that civilizations tend to end, they come to an end and they die, without it turning into a global apocalypse. The world goes on, just without another Empire, without yet another state. States and alliances also die but it barely changes anything in the routine lives of ordinary people going through it. Dissolutions of states happen - other states emerge in their place.?

Unfortunately we happen to be in the middle of this abolition and emergence process. The present international order has been undermined for several decades and it's about to collapse. It’s hard to predict what will happen next, but one thing is for sure - there will be a lot of destruction very soon.?

It is very clear that russia has been at the frontlines of undermining the international order, covering it with lies on top of lies. What we can learn from this is that when the russian officials declare that they are absolutely not involved in something - this means that they are 100% responsible for this.

Neither russia or the U.S. have ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). ICC has issued the arrest warrant for putin in March 2023, which has not been carried out yet. putin has been visiting only those states that are not signatories to the Rome Statute ever since.

Interestingly the U.S. has denounced the ICC arrest warrant application for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant in May 2024. This position places the U.S. in opposition to the international order as well.

Furthermore, it is quite interesting that both the president of russia and the U.S. won’t be participating in the Swiss Peace Forum this June. Basically the two main powers directly influencing the war in Ukraine will not be negotiating peace.

What could this mean? As a minimum - that they are not interested in ending it any time soon. The rest can talk, sure, but this Forum will have no effect whatsoever on what will be happening in the near future. The Peace forum in Switzerland is merely there to keep the discussion alive, but the war will go on.

Recently in a private discussion someone asked me: “When is the war really won?” The war is won when one of the parties is not able to fight anymore, not at all. It seems to me that the real war is still about to begin. Business is not interested in stopping weapons production, and to be honest every interested party is willing to continue profiting from war at the moment. Human greed and selfishness will drive us into poverty and suffering until they have had enough, if ever.?
