What working in a company built by risk-takers look like
A post from our Marketing Manager:
A few weeks ago, I randomly met the son of the man who started Maritech, way back in the 1970s. I knew we were ‘old,’ but I wanted to dig a little deeper to really understand what makes us who we are today...
Maritech began as a software provider for a fish reception facility, originally known as Aver?y Dataservice. From a basement in Aver?ya.
In the 1980s, we ventured into land-based aquaculture, becoming one of the pioneers in the field. After some trial and error, this journey ultimately led to bankruptcy — maybe we were just a little too ahead of our time.
However, after the bankruptcy in 1987, we reemerged as Maritech Systems with a focused mission: developing software for the rapidly growing seafood industry.
From our beginnings as Aver?y Dataservice to where we stand today, we have grown into one of the leading providers of seafood ERP software in the global market. Looking back on our history, it’s clear to me how we got here.
Maritech was built by people with grit, perseverance, and innovation at their core. They were hard workers, risk-takers, and pioneers in the seafood industry.
When we say that Maritech understands this industry, it’s not an overstatement— it’s simply the truth.
Every day, I see my team grind to create the best solutions for our customers, with the ultimate goal of helping the seafood industry become better and more sustainable.
Just like we did in the 70's.
I’m proud to work for a company that never forgets its roots.
Because we continue to be the risk-takers, the innovators and the hard workers we have always been.
That's pretty cool ??
