What a Wonderful World – Part 3

Unforgettable: Man-Made Wonders

Throughout history, humankind has changed the face of the planet by creating incredible pieces of architecture. What’s not to love, artistically and scenically? There is an enthusiasm for life in them. These iconic landmarks are the treasure trove of history with their striking architectural features and breathtaking views. Those who find their way to these places leave with an impression that helps to deepen their appreciation for the human touch.

Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa, an amazing work of art and a feat of engineering, is the world’s tallest skyscraper. It is elegant and innovative yet functional. The story of this magnificent architecture, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is one of inspiration and the triumph of seemingly impossible vision. In an article published by the New York Times, a resident of the Burj Khalifa said, “This is a building that calls us to be personally reflective in spaces of pure harmony and to be grand in our own aspirations, just as the building is itself.” This unearthly tower is a declaration of human capabilities even in the Arabian desert.

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is the most beautiful monument in India. Welsh travel writer Fanny Parkes said, “And now adieu!—Beautiful Taj—adieu! In the far, far West I shall rejoice that I have gazed upon your beauty; nor will the memory depart until the lowly tomb of an English gentlewoman closes on my remains.” In 2006, journalist and author Bill Coles wrote in the Wall Street Journal, “But the Taj Mahal does not disappoint. It does not disappoint the first time you see it, nor the third time, nor even the 30th time… It has the sort of majestic beauty that catches you quite unawares.”

Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore is known as the shrine of democracy. It is impossible not to feel the weight of history when you arrive here. The faces of four great former American presidents are carved into the giant rock in South Dakota. This national treasure symbolizes the spirit of a nation through four of its most revered leaders. Each president occupies a unique place in the history of the country. George Washington was a revolutionary leader who championed the cause for independence. Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence. Theodore Roosevelt represented the spirit of growth and progress, and Abraham Lincoln saved the Union.

Places like the Great Blue Hole off the coast of Belize, Salar De Uyuni in southwestern Bolivia, Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Great Barrier Reef in Australia, CN Tower in Canada, Eiffel Tower in France, Alhambra in Spain, Stonehenge in England and more.

Don’t just pass through or settle; allow the world to pass through you. Experience what it means to be a temporary tenant of this small planet. This little rock is home to seven continents and five oceans. Each region is a product of a unique narrative with its own special charm and magical destinations, from its highest mountains to its deepest oceans.

This is the home of historic events. History has been made here again and again. The future is alive here, innovation is potent here, and years of passionate endeavors are evident here. It is the training ground for dreamers, the crucible of destinies, and the island of the gods; it is a world brimming with opportunities, and a place where garbage is turned into gold and trash becomes treasure. It is a world transformed by the human touch. This is the story of how far we have come.
