WINNER Development Starts with INNER Development - Start Putting YOUR "I" in WINNING

‘There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.’ - Ernest Hemingway

It's not mastering your fellow man (and/or woman) that will create your success story and ultimately your legacy. Only mastering yourself can do that.

While there is no "I" in team, there is one in WIN, and it takes the power from within YOU to become a WINNER! After all YOU, and only YOU are accountable for your wins and losses.

Why I succeed (aka The Winner’s Creed)

I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not.

I will fight against the odds.

I will sacrifice.

I am not shackled by fear, insecurity or doubt.

I feel those emotions, but I drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell.

I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride. Pride consumes the weak and kills their heart from within.

If I fall… I will get up.

If I am beaten… I will return.

I never say maybe when I mean NO

I never say I SHOULD because I know I WILL

I will never stop getting better.

I will never give up… EVER.

I am the only one accountable for my wins and losses.

I recognize that I cannot be better than I was yesterday without some suffering

I accept that I am both the marble and the sculptor of my design.

I can…

I will….

End of story

That is how I will win…

That is why I succeed!!

To start putting the I in WINNING, start practicing the lost art of self-accountability by adopting the tenets of my winner's creed.

"What WINNERS Do" (from my book The Entrepreneur's Edge)

- WINNERS will always make time, never excuses.?

- WINNERS will learn to give in but will never give up.

- WINNERS never fall in love with their 'inventory', simply because it’s their inventory. They continually seek self-improvement and will sacrifice to trade up.

- WINNERS know that lapses in judgment are human, but there is no such thing as a lapse of integrity. They become the essence of integrity and confidence in their choices.

- WINNERS always fight fire with water, never with fire. Emotional intelligence is a highly sought-after art and the cornerstone of a WINNING mindset.

- WINNERS know to be interesting you must first be interested. Winners want to know more about both their competitors and their partners.

- WINNERS know time kills all deals, hence, are purposeful and expeditious. They value the commodity (but depreciating asset) of time and never waste it!

- WINNERS possess a child's curiosity and retain an awe inspiring humbleness.?They are motivated by missions and achievement, not by pride and ego!

- WINNERS know genuine imperfection is more attractive than disingenuous perfection. They are courageous, real and never trade in their authenticity for approval!

- WINNERS understand that knowing what they don’t know is often more important than what they do know. They are always listening and learning and never stop using knowledge to be better.

- WINNERS are understated with a reach that never extends beyond their grasp.?They never let their pride consume them and prevent them from learning and understanding more.

- WINNERS are great leaders and good teammates that inspire others to aspire. They know that if the only life you're focused on improving is your own, you will not be seen as a winner. They are motivators and leave a legacy of work ethic.

- WINNERS have compassion, empathy and gratitude and use it as their strength, not their weakness. They are always seen as a givers, not takers.

- WINNERS always possess *INTELLECTUAL HUMILITY!

*So what is Intellectual Humility? To me, it's being intelligent enough to understand the importance of knowing what you don't know is just as important as knowing what you do know. Its also being understated in a way that your reach, never extends beyond your grasp; possessing a mind so open and 'child like' curious, that you genuinely exhibit a yearning to learn something every day, from every person you encounter. Its also being passionately interested in others, knowing that doing so makes you more interesting to everyone.

Becoming a WINNER requires a long term, committed obedience to stay on the endless road of improving yourself, every single day. This road is paved with the stones of Passion, Perseverance, Purpose, Commitment, Conflict, Courage (aka grace under pressure) and an Emotional and Social Intelligence that can only be ascertained by living as an example of Integrity and Intellectual Humility.

Be Well, Stay Well, Always Treat Others Well

James Vena

"May you always have enough of the things you need for yourself and an abundance of the things you'd like to share with others. In this way,?your hands will always be extended in friendship and never in want. And, should you find yourself more fortunate than others, build a longer table, not a taller fence. The grass may not always be greener on the other side, but it will always be greener where you water it!
