What is a "Wine Mom?"

I was doing stand up comedy at a winery the other day and someone asked me if I would do some jokes about wine moms. And I had no idea what they were talking about. What is a "wine mom"? So I looked it up.
The Urban Dictionary defines a wine mom as: A middle-aged female (usually a mother) who enjoys drinking a refined, complex red or?white wine most likely bought from Whole Foods with her other middle-aged female friends while exchanging neighborhood gossip. Common topics during this odd ritual include but are not limited to:?annoying children, idiotic husbands,?fundraisers?for an elementary or middle school, that one neighbor who enjoys starting drama, and other neighbors who choose not to maintain their lawn. Wine mothers also tend to post their gatherings on Facebook.
How fascinating! It never occurred to me that this might be a thing.
Women who take the edge off of parenting with the occasional glass of wine. They sound like a cool crowd to me and I wouldn't mind spending some time with them.
Makes me wonder if there is such a thing as a "beer dad"?
Anyway, wine does seem to have a way of bringing people together to help them mingle about the hot topics of the day. And the beauty of it is that you don't have to be a mom or a dad to enjoy it, wine is for everybody (over the age of 21).
For many years I didn't care much for wine but now I realize it is because I didn't know there were so many different types. Wine has different personalities and you have to find out which type suits you. I personally enjoy the sparkling wine varieties, it makes me feel like I'm celebrating something, even though it might just be a regular Tuesday.
And I think maybe that is what these wine moms are also up to. There doesn't have to be a special occasion. They can open a bottle of something they like, call up a friend and this experience is like a mini vacation. I get it!
So now that I know what I wine mom is, I'll be sure to be prepared next time I'm cracking jokes at a winery. It's going to be a good time.
Are you a wine mom? Or do you know one? I'd love to hear more about it.
