What Is Wholeness Work?

What Is Wholeness Work?

I’d been teaching NLP since 1978. My career had been extremely successful. Together with my husband Steve Andreas we created and published the first popular NLP books, and people traveled from around the world to study with us in the Colorado mountains. In the late 1980’s I had developed Core Transformation, a powerful, yet gentle method to work with, transform and heal the parts that obstruct us.

Then in 1997 I experienced a physical breakdown that was so intense it made me fear for my life. With the knowledge of hindsight, we might call it a Kundalini experience. Though that may sound ‘spiritual’, I can tell you that it felt like all hell was breaking loose. It was as if an electric current was surging up and down my spine, at a voltage my body wasn’t likely to withstand. I lost energy, lost weight, and had to spend most of my time lying down in a darkened, quiet room. Doctors couldn’t tell me what it was, and I was desperate.

My background in clinical psychology and NLP didn’t provide the answers I needed - so I searched for something beyond what I already knew. And I wondered if I might find something useful in the area of spirituality. I encountered descriptions of “awakening” early on, and began reading every personal account I could get my hands on. I sat in “Satsang” circles with non-dual and Advaita teachers who frequented Boulder, and I joined as many as I could. I went to silent meditation retreats and signed on for individual consultations. My husband was rolling his eyes at my explorations, but he was a good sport and supported me following any leads that I felt inclined to pursue.

Some teachers resonated with me more than others. I was seeking authenticity, people who were walking the talk, teachers with a clear and kind presence. And came across video’s of the Indian sage Papaji, who had passed away in 1997. I really liked his embodied presence and knew his teacher had been Ramana Maharshi, whose main teaching was to ask “Who am I?” continuously throughout the day. The idea was that asking this question would open the doorway to realizing that “I am more than who I think I am”. As in: “I am not a limited self, but am actually a vast Self”. Ramana described this realization as the key to life suffering and pain falling away. That’s what I wanted! Only how to get there? How to ‘get this experience?

So I began to “model” the spiritual teaching of Ramana Maharshi. And as I pondered this Who Am I question one day, it occurred to me to change tack. Instead of asking “Who am I?” I asked “Where is the ‘i’ located?” And this made all the difference. It was easy to locate!

With the discovery of how to find the ‘i’ in experience, I found the entrance to a new method of inner transformation and healing that I named the Wholeness Work?. I found out how we can all dissolve the small ‘i’ into the whole that is Awareness. Something that’s been called in spiritual disciplines “awakening”.

For me, the initial results were subtle, yet immediate. As my own ‘i’s released, I felt a welcome relaxation and release of stress and tension. As I continued using the method, the results gradually amplified. Finally I had something that helped me with sleep, and could even transform and heal day-to-day hurts and the underlying emotions. I could feel that this was working at a deeper level than anything I’d experienced before. The healing and release was somehow more complete. Clients reported the same thing. In working with myself as well as with others I found that this method is actually extremely potent when it comes to addressing real life issues.

  • Stress melts away
  • Relationships improve
  • Emotional issues are transformed
  • Sleep improves drastically
  • More creativity, clarity of thought
  • It even alleviates some physical complaints

How can one method tackle all of these ‘problems’ you may ask? The answer takes more space than this article allows for.

In my training you’ll learn how to go beyond “dissolving the ego”– to find and transform the universal structures of the unconscious that hold stress and emotional reactivity in place.

Over the last ten years Wholeness Work has been tested with thousands of people, and it’s being used by a growing community of individuals, coaches and trainers.

In my latest book ”Healing & Awakening”I share everything I train in a Level 1 training.

Starting November 2nd, I will be offering Level I training online. You can find the details and register here: https://www.andreasnlp.com/trainings/the-wholeness-work/live-online/level-i/

Thank you Connirae for sharing your story so vulnerably and authentically. I feel very grateful that I got to know you in my life and have learned so much from you already - both in regards to the Wholeness Work and also through you as my teacher who so authentically walks the talk. The Wholeness Work has also changed my life and I have tried tons of ways to awaken from my limited small self. No other method is so precise, simple and effective at the same time. I love sharing the wisdom and letting others experience the profound effect and I hope that many more people will benefit from this method!

He leído, escuchado, traducido y compartido esta historia innumerables veces y sigue conmoviéndome.
