What and When to Post on Social Media

What and When to Post on Social Media

Trying to figure out when to post on Social Media can be a struggle, as everyone’s audience is different.

There are a few opinions on when the best time to post is. For us, the most popular times to post would be in the morning, at around 7-8am - this is because people are checking Social Media before they start their day and are on their commutes to work and/or school. As the day goes on, another great time to post online would be at around 3pm, this is when people are finishing school and college, and when those at work may start to be getting a little bored!

Finally, uploading in the evening from around 7-10pm is a good way to catch your audience when they are relaxing in the evening, scrolling through Social Media. We usually recommend posting around 2-3 times per week, as you don’t want to bombard your followers with content. However, this is still frequent enough to keep your posts relevant.

Thinking of new content ideas can also be hard; it is important to put out consistent posts that are relevant, on-trend and engaging. For example, you don’t want to promote a certain thing for five consecutive days, or upload quotes for weeks on end - mix up your content, but keep it relevant to your product or service. Use:

  • Before and after posts
  • Short tips
  • Announcement videos
  • Customer reviews
  • Behind the scenes and
  • Sneak Peeks and
  • Flat-lay/styled images.

These types of posts are all effective and will resonate with your audience in their own ways.

Amongst the most popular of Social Media sites are Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and Instagram - they can all be used to target different types of audiences. For example, you can use Linkedin to target Businesses and Business Owners, where as Facebook and Twitter can be used to aim your content mainly towards your customers/clients and the more general public.
