What is a WhatsApp Community?
Tesni Kendell
Social media support for small businesses - I'm based in North Wales (UK) but all the support is provided remotely ?
When my workbook Ace Your Media launches, I will also be launching a WhatsApp Community for all the small businesses who buy it - but what is that? And could it be exactly what you've been looking for for your own business?
WhatsApp is a social media platform
If you look at the texts on my phone, you'll find verification codes and dentist appointment reminders. WhatsApp has become, for many of us, the go-to place to message our friends, family and even clients. My Facebook Page actually has a very handy link so you can easily get in touch via WhatsApp.
But WhatsApp is more than the replacement of text messages. You can have a short bio or even get a Business Account. You can upload a status and let your friends know what's new in your world. You can follow Channels and get the latest updates from your favourite brands or celebrities. And then, of course, there are Communities - that's what we're talking about today!
Why I decided on WhatsApp Community
A WhatsApp Community is, in some ways, a mix between Channels and Group Chats. Let's say for example, that you join a WhatsApp Community for your local area. You'll automatically be added to two groups "chats", one of them will be for announcements and only admins can post in it (but you could still react) and the other is a more general group chat where anyone can post. Then, the admins might have created more group chats within the community that you can choose to join - for example, there might be a group for the local library, one for the local football team, one for an upcoming event, etc...
In my case, I'm going to use the Announcements Group for big news and freebies that could help you but I won't use it as an advertising space. I'll be posting into the main group regularly with questions and inspiration to help you stay motivated with your workbook, you'll be welcome to share any social media wins and workbook progress. Then, I'll add temporary extra groups from time to time to run little games.
My WhatsApp Community will only be available to those who've bought Ace Your Media - and you'll find the link in the book itself!
Ace Your Media - launching soon!
Ace Your Media is essentially a planner, tracker and to-do list all in one - presented in the form of 366 small tasks. Each task should take you less than 15 minutes and help you focus on your social media consistency.
It's launching on October 1st (2024) but the waiting list is now open if you want to be first to hear about the Pre-Order Offer going live: join the waiting list.
Thanks for reading! I share a blog like this one every other Tuesday, and if you feel like they help your social media presence, and more importantly, your business - then please consider leaving a tip.
Every time this tip jar reaches £15, I'll run a giveaway on social media so a small business can access my membership group for two months.
