What We're Watching

What We're Watching

We love to watch all kinds of content and recommend them to you. Some we placed senior team members on, but ALL we are simply loving (and credit stalking like the total obsessives we are).

Let us know what you think of these in the comments, and what we should also be plugging!

Josh Must Win, E4 / All 4?

An entertaining and welcome spin on the reality show genre. Reminding us of the Big Brother 5?bedsit - where two housemates were fake evicted, and then watched their fellow housemates as if they were the viewer - Nick Grimshaw and celebrity pals need to make sure ‘underdog’ Josh (also unaware) wins a sham reality competition. Rather depressingly though, underdog seems to mean a?quiet guy with glasses who loves his mum and his dogs and doesn't look like a Gladiator. We are loving it!

Big Gay Wedding, BBC

In a moving and joyful single documentary from Minnow, comedian Tom Allen celebrates the 10th anniversary of the same-sex Marriage Act (is that all?!) by turning wedding planner to?organise a Brighton couple's big day. Between the menu planning, cake tasting and suit fittings, Tom traces the history of same-sex marriage legislation in England and Wales. Great work Mike Nicholls who filmed and directed the doc after?TP?recommended him to Minnow.

The Push, Channel 4 / All 4

We are still thinking about this well crafted and powerful true crime?two-parter from Candour.?Understated and measured in its storytelling, it was also truly?amazing to be let into the actual trial -?the access was extraordinary. What an amazing moment when the judge summed up at the end too. So well crafted and just?the right amount of outside of court interview from family and lawyers too.

One Day, Netflix

An easy-watching romantic comedy drama series based on the excellent book many of us has read by David Nicholls. A real 'will they won't they' love story - albeit a tough one to stack up against the uniqueness of the book. A fun watch if you don't fancy true crime!

The Gentlemen, Netflix

The wrong (or right?) son inherits the family estate, which unbeknownst to him is the heart of a weed growing empire. Love or hate Guy?Ritchie films (and Kimberly is not usually a fan), this is clever, super stylish and laugh-out-loud with its excellent characters and plot twists. Best thing on Netflix at the moment. Watch the trail (warning: early?C-bomb dropped!).

Dog House, C4

Only one of us at TP has a canine furry friend, but all of us are big fans of this. How can one short episode of rescue doggy matchmaking ever fail to cheer you up? Uplifting family viewing that consistently brings us moving stories of humanity, kindness and 'awww' moments.?

Zara McDermott's Idaho Murders, Trial by TikTok, BBC iPlayer

A pretty unsettling journey into the world of amateur web sleuths, who took to?TikTok to try to solve the murder of 4 students in a small Idaho town. Nicely paced and well handled by Zara, appealing to a younger true crime audience.

Veritasium, YouTube

The team are geeking out at this impressive science channel with 15m+ subscribers that TP is currently working with. High end, content impeccably written on subjects you may never have thought you'd be interested in - the simplest maths problem no one can solve? The surprising genius of sewing machines? Does Planet 9 exist?! Yeah we've watched them all.?

Come on then, what else would you add?
