Chris Higgins, Certified Peer Supporter at PSNS, shares her book review this week! How To Do The Work, by Dr. Nicole LePera, 'The Holistic Psychologist.'?
“I had come across Dr. Nicole LePera on social media and found myself highly relating to her work, research, philosophies, tools, and so forth. Through her following, I discovered she was writing this book and therefore could not WAIT to get my hands on it!?
As the title somewhat implies, the book is about healing, self-healing, from our childhoods and past traumas, and learning how to 're-parent' ourselves. It is written from the perspective of a very well-educated clinician who offers a holistic approach, accompanied by her steady, transparent sense of authenticity and inspiration alike.?
Dr. LePera's book has supported me in my ongoing journey of 'self-healing' while also assisting me in opening up to new perspectives. In addition, it has shifted my thinking, allowing me to further deepen my own healing and wellness journey, which most definitely has a residual 'ripple effect' on all areas of my life.?
I'm not yet done reading the book, but that said, I believe there is great benefit in?? reading it! Dr. LePera offers exercises and tools (in a 'non-preachy' fashion, no less!) for her readers and has created an online community for readers, a.k.a '#SelfHealers,' offering a validating and inclusive sense of community as well!??
I also feel the book boasts the benefit of opening the door for the reader to begin to feel confident in diving into some 'self-healing' work on their own.”?
