What if there were no Mother Theresa?
KCR Community Resources
A community where individuals and families are supported in leading healthy, productive and fulfilling lives.
When the Albanian-born teenager set off to India in 1929 to begin her novitiate to become a nun – she had no dreams of changing the world. Just a desire to help. This desire led her to then start her own order the Missionaries of Charity. The Missionaries then went on to help millions of people to date and are established in over 130 countries including Canada. Offering food, basic healthcare and a warm hug to these communities.
Will we all become Saints that receive Nobel prizes, and have legacies that live on forever? The short answer is no– but starting out Mother never had that goal, just the desire to help. She was known to constantly encourage people, who flew to India to volunteer with her, to “start at home” – start in your community, start with who is in front of you and help one by one. That is how you can change the world and make the biggest impact.
At the #OkanaganVolunteerFair on September 16th, we want to offer you the opportunity to see what options are available in the community to make that step to start with the first “one”,
Join us at 10 am, on September 16th at the Parkinson Recreational Centre.
