??30 aspiring impact entrepreneurs. One beach villa. A gazillion ideas

What happens when you gather 30 aspiring entrepreneurs at a beach villa in Goa and help them build an impact startup from scratch?

We promise this is not the plot line to the startup edition of Bigg Boss (We err on the side of caution on this one) ??

We are currently accepting applications for our accelerator program. We have received over 200 applications already and are loving the enthusiasm of our applicants.

If you have the grit and the passion to build a startup in the impact space, consider applying to the build3 accelerator today.?

If you want to know why we created the build3 impact accelerator (biA), check out this lucidly written article by Abhimanyu Rathi , the head of the program?

??Think week for startups at cohub

We recently finished our quarterly strategy session at the villa (thanks Charlez Kurian John , for being a superb organiser). The purpose of our quarterly is to set focus and direction so that all the work that we do contributes to our BHAG (big hairy audacious goal) of supporting 100K impact entrepreneurs build their startup idea. (The BHAG concept comes from the book "Built to Last" written by Jim Collins and Jerry Poras)

And then we had an idea.

We relish the fact that we get to live and work out of Goa; what if we could also offer a slice of that experience to other organisations?

Wouldn't it be awesome if other organisations could have access to our beach villa to run their team bonding sessions and strategy meets?

Beach villa in Goa fitted out with work stations and meeting rooms - ?

Spaces for people to live around the villa - ?

Programming to help teammates bond and rejuvenate - ?

Community of like-minded founders and creators to bounce off ideas with - ?

We are christening this program as "Think Week" for organisations. If you would like to host your team's next strategy and bonding session in Goa, please click on the link below to apply?https://www.build3.org/cohub

??Go fund yourself!

In the last update, we mentioned that build3 is a proud signatory of the Mensarius oath (An oath that asks financiers to use their expertise to better society).?

We signed the oath since we are raising a?6 million dollar syndicate?fund to invest in impact startups. Thanks to the program conducted by the good folks at VC Labs (a partner of the Founders Institute), our quest to create our fund has begun. Our anchor investor is in, and we are super pumped to work on building the fund over the next couple of years.

??I've got your back, partner!

When he's not busy picking fights with Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg, Elon Musk is excellent at providing startup-related one-liners.

"Running a startup is like chewing glass and staring into the abyss. After a while, you stop staring, but the glass chewing never ends" - Musk Baba

You can probably relate to this sentiment if you are a founder. Wouldn't it be great if you had a group of loyal founder compadres who have your back on your startup journey??

Well, thats what the founders' circle is all about, a community of exceptional founders who understand the challenges of taking a business from 0 to 1.?

When you join a circle, your fellow circle mates help you with any business and personal requests. It's a safe space to let your hair down and connect with people who get YOU.

????Let me make you an offer that you can't refuse - Co-create an agency

A common refrain we hear from people who wish to move to Goa is whether they will have enough work to sustain themselves and enjoy the 'Sussegado' lifestyle the state offers. (A common misconception is to associate Sussegado with complacency when it really means being content in life)

Since we are in the business of helping impact startups grow, we wanted to partner with people who have specific expertise in the hiring, growth/marketing or product development domains. Think of it as our very own suicide squad, justice league, avengers etc. (Whatever your bent of mind is ;)

If you are interested or know someone who might be, consider applying here?https://build3.freshteam.com/jobs

We are currently in advanced stages of talks with 2 agency candidates.

?

????What to look for when you hire a ninja?

Since we are a teal organisation (check reinventing organisations by Fredric Laloux ), a helpful template to have in mind while choosing your next hire is whether they are

Fit for role: Do they have the skill to perform their job well??

Fit for organisation: Do they align with the organisation's way of doing things? (Do they document their work well, are they tech-friendly, can they keep up with the startup environment etc.)

Fit for purpose: Do they align with the organisation's purpose and feel motivated to work towards it?

We have been on a hiring spree lately at build3 (check out openings at?https://build3.freshteam.com/job ), and this framework works well to gauge how well-suited candidates are on a relative and absolute scale.

??Books that we are reading

Now that we are here by Akshat Tiyagi and Akshay Tiyagi?:?In a world where the rug is constantly being pulled out from under you, how do you deal with it and create value for people around you? This book does not provide answers but nudges you to think deeper about the tectonic shifts that are taking place in the world around us.

Seat of the soul by Gary Zukov :?For those of you who are beginning to doubt whether there's more to life than what the eye can see, this book is an excellent primer to embrace the spiritual side of your life. "its like its reading my mind and giving me a playbook with regards to how to run my life - AT THE SAME TIME!" - Varun Chawla after reading the book.
