What is Wellness Wednesday and Why You Need It

Here is something to which we can all relate.?
Picture this: it's 11 a.m. on Wednesday, and your devices belt out what seems like a symphony of notifications.
The buzz of a text, the chime of an email, the ring from a phone call—people are tuned in to get things done—and you are right in the middle of it all.?
What a regular occurrence for all of us, but what can we expect??
It is the hump of hump day, the literal center of the week, and it feels like in one instance everyone?needs?to talk to you.
This problem has plagued me for years; sometimes, you do need to press "pause" and question: What if I just turned it all off? What if I took time for myself?
So, let's break it down; let's talk about self-care and the idea of putting the power back in your own hands.
Recently, I implemented a new day for just that, my designated "Wellness Wednesday," where I put the balance back in my day between business and mind, body, and spirit.
Yep, I have taken back my time with force (and by that, I mean the handy dandy Do Not Disturb setting) and found that when the world around you feels chaotic, it is powerful and impactful to focus on what matters most at that moment: YOU.
Because let's be honest: SELF-CARE MATTERS (and how we prioritize it can look very different but is all invaluable to our well-being).
Self-care has long been misunderstood by many, probably because sometimes it feels as if we're prioritizing ourselves over others.
?I disagree.

It’s not selfish, it’s not self-indulgent, and it’s not the “treat yo' self” mentality like many Parks and Rec references have us believe (while it is a funny interpretation of the subject).
It can be the simplest activities we overlook, from basic hygiene to getting physical activity. (Or you can do a little extra like me and visit a cryochamber!)
The biggest part of self-care for me is managing the many stressors in life. And for most of us, work is the greatest stressor of all.
Taking time to yourself, spending time with family, or even unplugging for a few hours can be enough to refill the tank tenfold.
?Remember, self-care looks different for everyone, but taking steps toward taking care of yourself is one of the best ways to keep yourself (and your goals) on track.

1 年I've long bought into the concept and totally subscribed to wellness mental and physical being essential to be able to give people your best. Self care is actually a selfless act. Reminds me of when you fly. The flight attendant tells you to first place on your oxygen mask then assist your family beside you. Riddle me that ?
