If you're interested in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Low Power WAN (LPWAN) wireless technologies, take a look at this SlideShare deck: https://lnkd.in/eWudDVJ
Weightless-P (W-P) is a fully two-way wireless IoT protocol that enables firmware and security updates to remote end-devices and 100% message acknowledgement.
It is highly scalable, long range, and low power (end-device batteries last for years).
W-P is an extremely robust and adaptable transmission protocol, provides an efficient synchronization link between base stations and remote devices, and integrates carrier-grade security. All of these attributes combine to make W-P a powerful choice as a wireless connectivity solution for the Industrial IoT (IIoT).
The great thing is, ANYONE can purchase their own Weightless-P base station(s) and end device modules to build their own low-power, wide area network... smart manufacturing, smart campuses, smart buildings and smart farming/agriculture are just the beginning of what's possible.
But the best part is... it is based on an open standard from the Weightless Special Interest Group (SIG). The Weightless SIG is a non-profit global standards organisation formed to coordinate the activities needed to deliver the world's best IoT connectivity technology. W-P is an open global standard rather than a proprietary technology and will guarantee low cost and low risk, and maximize user choice and ongoing innovation.
Update: Ubiik (www.ubiik.com) is the first to begin shipping development kits based on this W-P protocol ... 2017 Aug.14 (base station and two radio modules). Volume production will begin soon. Check out the Ubiik website for more details. Stay tuned.... more updates to come.

7 年Ed Hightower Very nicely was written. You addressed the wound of the Aloha based technologies like LoRaWAN and SIGFOX. LoRa is just Long Range, but Weightless P is already MoRa = More range. I used Line of sight, Egli and Hata to show everybody that 48 km (50 km) are against Physics and Mathematics. ### Low Power Wide Area Network Comparison of range - Comparison of range ### In many places, you can always read from the mystical range of 15 km at LPWAN. A manufacturer for LPWAN radio transceivers even advertises 15 miles to 30 miles, which would be 24 km to 48 km. Why not equal 700 km or 4400 km? None of the range estimates for LPWAN of 15, 24 or 48 km refers to any mathematical or physical basis for calculation. For this, there are some physical boundary conditions. 7 年We just got our kit this morning, tomorrom I share on my wall. Hoping for WP to address some gap given by LoRa, NB and SigFox.
