Driving Growth for Good | Advocate for Sustainable Development & Community Impact
Firstly, thank you to all new subscribers who have joined the Growth for Good journey. It seems to have caught the moment, as it were.
We have some truly fantastic groups and businesses to highlight on the first rung of our mission, and I've been meeting with and chatting with a diverse range of manufacturers, retailers, business service suppliers, innovators, niche champions, consultants, established entrepreneurs and local leaders.
Wearing the halo.
In 1985, old-school sales legend Brian Tracy talked of centring a business sales approach around a ‘halo of excellence’, something that has stuck with me. I believe that so many businesses, groups and organisations don’t talk enough about their unique centres of excellence. Consequently, they don’t sell themselves as well as they should.
Why are we so shy? Is it a fear of seeming somehow arrogant? Or is it the dreaded ‘imposter syndrome’ that destroys confidence from within without any basis in fact?
One thing I have found is that we can help each other by making a point of highlighting others’ haloes.
Businesses can effectively collaborate to highlight their unique strengths and establish multiple centres of excellence within regions. This isn’t new or untested; it is, effectively, how Silicon Valley developed, and it worked out pretty well for them. By working collectively, these businesses enhance their region’s identity, attract visitors and investment, and build supportive ecosystems that celebrate their expertise, fostering local pride and global recognition.
In the coming weeks, I will start to share videos and audio covering some remarkable folk who are already delivering on growth for good but now have a collective cause to band together on.
You will know of others, folk who are also doing great work, who are your favourites?
Who wears a halo for you? Please let us know, and we’ll get in touch with them.
Living up to the values
Starting next week, I will also be posting some guest contributions on practical steps to make your Growth For Good journey more enjoyable, efficient, friendly, and profitable.
Until then, keep up the great work.
