What We should do to Save Water

How to save water in daily life? Easy or difficult??? I don’t know, but I have to say that people don't always do a great job of conserving water and protecting our planet.

The faucet was too loose to work properly. When its position was not accurate, the water would drip or even run continuously. It's the faucet in the women's toilet on the fifth floor of my office building.

I'm pissed at the situation, waste of water, which we could have taken a second or two to stop. SIMPLE & EASY. Also, I'm tired of moving the faucet to the correct position every time I go to the women's room to prevent waste. Personally, I can't accept why people ignore dripping or running water. It is loud and clear that the faucet is crying, even 5 meters away you could hear that. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN???

When I noticed about 3 days in the middle of November, I talked to the cleaning lady. She said, I had reported and the management office sent someone to fix it in May. Personally, it was a faucet, why it is so hard to replace one or fix it?

I reported to the management office the next day in the morning. People said they fixed it in May, how could this happen again? Yeah, who knows! BUT, the urgent and important thing is to fix it asap.

In mid-November, I spoke to the cleaning lady when I noticed dripping/running water 3 days in a row. She said, I reported it, and the management office sent someone to fix it in May. I personally think it is a faucet, why is it so difficult to replace it? Report to the management office early the next morning. People say it was repaired in May, why is it like this again? Yeah, who knows! However, the most urgent and important thing is to fix it as soon as possible.

From November to January, I kept hearing the faucet crying. I turned it off once saw it. Imagine that weekend or evening after get off work, there is no one to check. To be sure, people can now afford to waste and money. Water is everywhere, thus, it is normal we just ignore waste and not cherish as we MUST. Normal, but incorrect.

Finally, 2 engineers went to fix it early March. I was more than happy to see them in the lady’s room. For the next two days, I heard and saw no crying. However, on the third day it cried. What the hell! ! ! Sorry, I have to expressed my anger and desperate.

What a coincident! I met the management lady outside the women’s room to report the incident again. She said that it was not money, just engineer team had to check if they have stock. Then, they would arrange someone to fix it... She called immediately and I quietly left without saying anything.

But at the same time, I also think that faucets in commercial office buildings should be very normal and common products. This means it should be easy to buy one of the same or a similar or similar size. No inventory or in-house program lasts approximately 3 months or longer? I'm not criticizing, just trying to figure out if there is a better solution than replacing the faucet myself.

I learned two things.

One is about habit, which requires an investment of time, money, and effort, like building a new fab. There are 3 children training companies on 5th?floor. Children are in and out in the lady’s room with their parents or grandparents. Some people actually turned off the tap. Ironically, the PSAs (public service announcements) on subways and elevators in buildings are talking about saving every drop of water for our planet. Some people choose to be ‘BLIND & DEAF’. It means we should make an effort to incorporate water-saving habits into our daily lives. We make plans, then we imply and refine as we learn. IThis is a long process. Patience, learning and keep-up-to-date is a MUST.

BTW: Mom, thank you! I hate when you're always asking for this and that. You are the most annoying mom ever. Indeed, I really appreciate your patience, attention and love for me. My habits are not perfect?comparing with your standard. But you are tutoring me with yourself. It means a lot.

The other is completeness of a task. When you have a project, starting from nothing or just an unrealistic idea.

Action→Plan→Implement→Schedule/Progress → Completion → Review.

During the implement phase, there will be tons of details that should be modified or changed overall owing to real situation. As human being, we are flexible. Moreover, we conduct reviews throughout the process to make recommendations for efficiency or management improvements, lessons learned from bad experiences, reflections on future plans, etc. After verification is completed, checks should be performed to ensure true integrity. For instance, no one checks for leaky faucets after supposed repairs. Integrity isn't just lip service, it's evidence.
