What are we noticing in the turning

In our lives, there are often waymarkers. These are specific things we consciously or subconsciously look for as an indicator of change.

This particular sessile oak is one of mine.

Down the hill from the farmhouse, I pass it each day on my way to feed the alpacas.

When it starts to change colour – in spring or autumn – it does so quickly. And I know for sure that the season is turning.

This was yesterday. The big leaves clearly show the shift. Autumn is here.

Yet I wonder if there is something else this majestic creature is speaking to: the laying bare of all things.

Because here’s the thing. Autumn is not only a time of yielding but of revealing.

reveal... from Latin revelare "reveal, disclose," literally "unveil" re- "back, again," probably indicates "opposite of" opposite of "velare" velare is to cover, veil... ... so reveal may mean... uncover a veil what can that veil be?

Revealing. Hmmmm. I like that idea Sue. New layers and shapes, old ones too. Have a lovely day. I was just seeing you feeding the alpacas in my mind!
