We can learn from a butterfly the lesson of the evolution of our self- consciousness towards the realm of super-consciousness, which is the ultimate goal of human life. It represents that we live our life in the shell of ego, just as butterfly lives in its cocoon as a caterpillar. When the caterpillar matures as an adult butterfly, it annihilates it's existence as caterpillar with feelings of its own death without knowing that it is going to enter in a free flying decent life. In the same way, when a self conscious human-being evolves as Super conscious saint, he/she has to annihilate his/her existence as an ego with the feelings of his/her own death (dark night of the soul) without knowing that he/she is going to enter in the more blissful cosmic life in the form of True Self.
In nutshell, the metaphor of the development of butterfly may be applied to the evolution of human consciousness. Butterfly in caterpillar form represents our ego while adult butterfly represents our true self. These tiny, fluttering creatures are really teachers in disguise. Here are five bits of life wisdom, inspired by the beautiful butterfly. Be patient. All good things come with time. We are growing, even when we cannot feel it. With great patience come great rewards. Be open to change. Be willing to be transformed. Without change, nothing beautiful would happen. You have to give up who you are to become who you might be.
Be light and free. Have some fun. Float from each open door to the next. Look for the color, humor and joy in daily life. Be spontaneous. Go wherever your wings take you. Fly forward with confidence. Have the courage to seize new opportunities. Be in the moment. Look around. Enjoy the flowers, the sun and the breeze. The present moment is a gift for us to enjoy. Here is so much to learn from a butterfly. We are often more concerned about welfare of our children. Whether it comes to putting them in to some school hostel or sending them to new job training to stand on their own legs in their life. The following message will be an eye opener to all.
A man was an avid gardner... Saw a small butterfly laying a few eggs in one of the pots in his garden. since that day he looked at the egg with ever growing curiosity and eagerness. The egg started to move and shake a little. He was exited to see a new life coming up right in front of his eyes. He spent hours watching the egg now. The egg started to expand and develop cracks.. A tiny head and antennae started to come out ever so slowly. The man's excitement knew no bounds. He got his magnifying glasses and sat to watch the life and body of a pupa coming out.?
He saw the struggle of the tender pupa and couldn't resist his urge to help. He went and got a tender forceps to help the egg break, a nip here a nip there to help the struggling life. And lo behold! The pupa was out the man was ecstatic! He waited now each day for the pupa to grow and fly abt like a beautiful butterfly, but Alas that never happened the larvae pupa had a oversized head and kept crawling along in the pot for the full 4 weeks and died! Depressed the man went to his botanist friend and asked the reason. His friend told him the struggle to break out of the egg helps the larvae to send blood to its wings and the head push helps the head to remain small so that the tender wings can support it thru its 4 week life cycle, in his eagerness to help the man destroyed a beautiful life! Struggles help all of us, that's why a little bit of effort goes a long way to develop our strength to face life's difficulties!
As parents, we sometimes go too far trying to help and protect our kids from life's harsh realities and disappointments. We don't want our kids to struggle like we did. To quote clinical psychologist Dr. Wendy Mogel: "It is Our Job to prepare Our Children for the Road..., & Not prepare the road for Our Children..." We have to become butterfly (saint ) by attaining our True Self by nullifying our False ego (caterpillar) through the process of either meditation or devotion to God. Without doing so, we can't evolve spiritually and will repeat the cycle of rebirths.
Butterfly live a life span of 15 - 30 days, still it helps the environment in lot of ways by pollination and nectar formation. The beauty of butterfly is incredible and mind blowing, a flying butterfly’s glimpse can make us very happy. Thus, I learn from a butterfly is that no matter how much you live, the thing which matters is your productivity and contribution to this world and contribution for keeping existence of life.?
Butterfly teaches to rove over -Flow of life as -”Life is matter of observing , witnessing and experiencing and not a matter of figuring out any thing from one;s life , as no one has any control on circumstances going on or gone already around in life , as life is continuously rushing to new destination , and figuring out for any thing for future journey of life is not feasible as flow of life is moving with unique turns and twist for each and even one of us” Cheers!
