It is what it is. Donald Trump is now officially the President –Elect of the United States. He did it his way – with boldness and a badass attitude. Confident, arrogant, egotistical and being a bully, he managed to win election to the highest office in America. How did he do it?
He was the voice for many who felt ignored or forgotten. He said things that were outrageous but in reality, many of his followers wanted to say these things even though it was politically incorrect. Mr. Trump, however, did not care what people thought.
There is a swampland of ordinary writing out there. So, my writing must grab people’s attention. It should be witty, unique and memorable, just like Trump. Dialogue and story telling should stand out like a red balloon in a sea of yellow balloons. Writers struggle to find the right words, the unusual twist in the story and a dynamite beginning and end. We strive to create characters that are vibrant, three-dimensional and one in a million yet relatable. It’s not easy. Just like Trump forced his way onto the political scene, a writer must be a force to be reckoned with. He or she must rise to the top of the heap of manuscripts or scripts an agent or producer reads. Otherwise, what’s the point?
So let’s take the lessons of President Trump and use them to our advantage. Take the reins and race forward. Be fierce, bold, relentless. It may be the only route to success.
