What we can learn from an Olympic Gold winner in Triathlon for our Energy Transition path

I am truly grateful for the invaluable insights shared by Olympic Gold and Silver Winner Nicola Spirig in Triathlon at the 14th New Energy Investor Summit near Zurich last week.

Her experience from 5 Olympic games and numerous Championships is a treasure trove for our Energy transition and Decarbonisation efforts in combating global warming.

Nicola's emphasis on overcoming mental barriers resonates deeply, urging investors to shift from 'words to action'.

Please find three key takeaways that struck a chord with me:

1. "If you don't have a goal, every path is the wrong one."

2. Embrace "long-term Planning with flexibility" and a "continuous drive for self-improvement".

3. Remember, "Life is like riding a bicycle: If you stand still, you fall!"

We can draw following conclusions for our drive to enable decarbonized energies like eSAF to replace Kerosene for Aviation, GreenH2 for Hard-to-abate industries to replace natural gas, eMethanol and eAmmonia for the Shipping industry to replace traditional maritime fuels: The current "Window of opportunity" to invest in eFuel-Development platforms, Renewable projects and Companies is NOW. With the huge potential demand, decreasing interest rates, lower input costs for equipment, the large demand/supply gap foreseeable for eSAF, the penalty schemes, incentives and the increasing governmental support, the business case is becoming beneficial also from a money viewpoint.

It won't be easy, it won't be a way straight forward, it includes risks - and yes, we need to achieve competitiveness against the traditional fossil fuels. It is like in Sports to become an Olympic Champion.

Thus, I am inviting everyone to embrace Nicola Spirig's wisdom as we navigate these opportunities with courage.

Excited to further delve deeper into these reflections at the World Hydrogen Week in Copenhagen on 2nd October 2024, discussing "Matching capital to projects - when will we see the next round of FIDs?"

Together we make it happen!

Thank you for the sharing key takeaways! This is inspiring and also resonates with my recent post "Cycling and Business Success": Every pedal stroke reminds me of progress in the business world. The skills honed on two wheels - endurance, strategy, adaptability, and resilience - are invaluable in professional life. https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/pozdnyakov-andrey_entrepreneurialmindset-ankaragranfondo-sportsandbusiness-activity-7238592048994390016-hm26?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
