What we can learn from Captain Thomas Phillips

April 16th 2020 seemed like an ordinary day.
But it ended up being a day like no other.
You see on that day a 99 year old man finished walking 100 laps around his garden to raise money for NHS workers.
How much did he think he would raise?
$1,000
That hardly doesn’t seem like much. I can imagine that he probably second guessed doing it a few times, given how hard it is for him to walk 100 laps and the impact of $1,000 may not make that big of an impact.
But he did it anyway.
And as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Captain Tom Moore walked 100 laps around his garden and by the end of the day had raised $14,000,000!
Did the donations stop coming in?
No!
He has raised over $28,000,000 to help NHS workers.
That is incredible!
What can we learn from this?
That many times those that change the world don’t set out to change the world. They just set out to help or make an impact.
To make things better for one person.
Or a few people and that starts a chain reaction that makes big things happen.
So instead of thinking about something big that you can do to change the world.
Ask yourself how can you make one person's life better?
What looks so insignificant but could make a big difference in someone’s life?
And do those things. Because you don’t know what the impact of that can be.
You might inspire others to do the same.
And then people may be calling you a hero.
Even if no one calls you that you will feel like one.
So what is one way that you can make a difference in people’s lives even if the difference seems small?
What is a way you can use your talents and skills to help those in need?
What is a person that has made a difference that has made a difference in your life even if it feels small?
P.S. The story about Captain Tom Moore is truly amazing. You can read the whole story about the money that he has raised here https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-52333127. There is a discussion that he should be knighted(a huge honor in the UK). If you want to learn more about that you can go here https://www.change.org/p/war-hero-tom-moore-aged-99-to-be-knighted-captaintommoore.
