What we achieved in 2022 and looking forward to an even bigger and better 2023

WHAT WE ACHIEVE TOGETHER

It was a year of triumphs and tragedy, but through it all, we have worked tirelessly to support each other.?Of that I am incredibly proud.

In 2023 we will continue to focus on the important basics: roads, rates, rubbish, the continued support of community groups and sporting groups, accessibility, better facilities and lifelong support for all residents.?

As we go forward, may our relationships, hopes and common goals unite us all.?I look forward to continuing to work with you and for you.

Here are the 2022 council highlights, which addressed my commitments to the community.

ENHANCING COUNCIL PERFORMANCE

New CEO Scott Waters was appointed and set to work immediately on doing a health check to improve council operations and services.

REPAIRS AFTER DISASTER

$40 million repair and reconstruction program after flood damage

INCREASED FIRE MITIGATION AND RESILIENCE

Council partnering with Pano A1 to trial cutting edge fire detection technology

Legal action against operators of Kin Kin Quarry

ADDRESSING DOMESTIC FAMILY VIOLENCE

Patron of Mingle with the Mayor ball, raising funds and awareness of domestic violence

- Council provided another land parcel for building another Shine House for DV victim families

- Local Government Association (LGAQ) commendation for DFV prevention and awareness work

HOUSING ISSUES

- Short Stay Letting local law implemented

- Housing Needs Assessment

- Housing Strategy

MANAGEMENT & SUSTAINABLE USE OF NOOSA RIVER

Noosa River Stakeholder Advisory Committee to advise Council on river issues

COUNCIL PROPERTIES

Sunrise Beach Shopping Centre gain IGA as new tenant?

SUPPORTING SPORT & COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS

Council $800,000 plus State grant $1m for new multipurpose facility at Noosa District Sports Complex

BIGGEST EVER CAPITAL WORKS PROGRAM $35M

- Hinterland playground,

- Noosa Parade upgrade

- Beckman's Road roundabout (by DMR)

- Peregian Beach Community House

- Three hinterland bridge replacements

-?$5m road reseal program

PATHWAY CONNECTIVITY

- Program of filling footpath missing links

- $1.1m to upgrade Noosa Trails 5 network

- $500,000 to upgrade trails of ecological value

LIVIBILITY

- Maintaining environmental lands

- Maintaining outdoor spaces

LAND FOR CONSERVATION

- Further conservation land purchases

- 40.8% of Noosa Shire secured for conservation?

SEQ COUNCIL OF MAYORS

- My advocacy achieved 100% councillor agreement to joining Council of Mayors

- Received commitment of $3.5million for liveability projects

- Funding and collaboration with other councils to improve waste infrastructure

- As Noosa mayor, I was selected to represent SEQ Councils on Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Organising Committee

- Access to federal and state ministers to advocate for Noosa
