In what way are you addressing "Affordable Health Insurance for All"
INSURERS & REGULATORS often deviate from the core and important point - AFFORDABLE HEALTH INSURANCE FOR ALL. Premiums for health policies have been going towards North and premiums are revised with no so usable features being added due to unhealthy competition. At last after IRDA showed up its muscle power to make changes in the regulation very often, it has made health insurers worried on huge anticipated losses by them. This has resulted in Health insurers increasing the premium by 30% to 50%.
The core objective of regulator is to stop unhealthy practice, reduce grievances, regulate insurers with strict surprise Audits, lower management expenses, max cap in increase of premium every 3 years, Control on insurers halting particular plans and sending Notices to policy holders to compulsory shift to other expensive health policy plans.
GI Council another core body working with IRDA has also been missing the agenda and setting up goals which will be ineffective. What policy holder require now is not even considered and bypassed. Regulatory instead of putting cap of 15% premium increase have given free hand to insurers to take policy holders for a ride.
