What is Visual Design?

We'll look at visual design and learn how it affects user experience in this post.

We often refer to visual design as "branding" or "graphic design," which is the method of incorporating aesthetics into the design. In this case, aesthetics refers to the way something looks and sounds. But there's more to it than just adding pretty colors; there are several important elements to make a usable/intuitive design.

Typography refers to the tools you use to create text, such as body text, headlines, and buttons. Fonts, text sizes, and colors are all examples of this.

Colors may be used to draw attention to products or categorize them, and color schemes are often useful for branding.

Images For the look and feel of your website, image styles are extremely significant. So, for example, do you use photography or an illustration.

Spaces, forms, and lines are all ways to visually separate and build your page, and they can help add clarity and focus.

Symbols are icons that can be used for menus, user activities, or content categories, and should be recognized by the user.

Finally, it is important to have a strong BRAND. What is the message you're trying to communicate? You may be starting from scratch, redesigning an established brand, or practicing with existing ‘brand guidelines,' all of which present unique challenges in terms of how you handle the above.

What are moodboards?

Moodboards are a useful tool helping designers gather inspiration and collaborate with team members. Boards can help communicate ideas and turn an abstract idea into a real one. The visual material helps create a common design language and articulate a brand's principles and style.

You need to ask, “Who is your target audience?” The answer impacts your choice of color, as the concepts and meanings for colors vary from culture to culture.

Also bear in mind there is a small number of people who see colors differently and are color blind.

  1. Avoid color combinations that are too similar
  2. Ensure you have a high level of color contrast
  3. Use complementary colors which are opposite each other on the color wheel
  4. Choose cool and warm color contrasts
  5. Opt for monochrome palettes
