What users want from a mobile app?

Developing a mobile application is a tedious task. It shouldn’t be taken lightly, not just because the development process is rigorous but for other reasons too. Even if one manages to build an app, without understanding its niche and the target audience, it will be rendered useless.

Building an application just for the namesake cannot benefit users or the business planning it. What matters the most is how well any app can cater to the needs of the populace and deliver accordingly. For that to happen, research and in-depth understanding of the market and end-users become mandatory.

Businesses create applications for people, so it is cardinal to take care of the interests of users and basically get them hooked to the app. It is nothing but hitting two birds with one stone. A well thought out application will impress upon customers and keep the revenue flowing in too!!

Let’s dive into this pool (of course figuratively!) and get to know the expectations of the potential customers better.

Simplicity

The simpler an application is, the easier it is to use. A platform offering solutions and choice, in an easy manner would of course be preferred over one that’s difficult to comprehend in the first place.

Make sure, while developing an app, you incorporate ‘cool stuff’ only if it’s useful. Remember, no-fringe experience isn’t entirely bad.

A rich experience

In order to have a huge user-base, it is crucial to offer an experience that stands out, for all the good reasons!

Focus on providing clients something that is not available anywhere else.

Don’t create an app just because it’s what everyone is doing these days. Give it a sincere thought and carefully understand the need of a platform and how impactful, useful and desirable it would be for the clients.

All this thought would eventually provide a rich experience to the customers!

Application utility

One of the most important functions of a mobile application is to provide value or utility to users. Your app should be able to justify the investments made on ideating, creating and maintaining it.

Imagine downloading an application that serves many purposes but not a thing it claims to deliver. What you’d do is this – uninstall it!

Simply put, if any platform would over-commit and under-deliver, all efforts on it would simply go to the drains. Make sure that you establish how users can actually benefit from your platform, honestly and objectively.

The visual element

Nothing catches our attention more than visuals. A picture is a thousand words in itself, is said for a reason.

Appearance of any platform can gain good traction. Eye catching visuals have a high probability of appealing the masses. Invest some time in choosing the pictures, colour scheme, content placement. Make your content quirkier so that it stands out and grabs attention.

Don’t rely solely on your application’s functionalities.

Functionality

There are several kinds of apps conforming to a single domain. What brings users to that platform is its utility and what it has to offer that others don’t.

In order for your application to succeed, ensure you offer different functionalities from your competitors, hence increasing its demand in the market.

Performance

Downloading an app is not the end; it’s actually a beginning. After downloading only, users get to decide whether they want to continue using it or not. They make this decision based on how well the application performs.

It won’t leave a good impression if an app crashes, has glitches or bugs, has unnecessary ads etc. Testing can prove to be a helpful tool here; test your product and remove the bugs, before it hits the market.

Engagement

Users expect a return on the time they invest. Hence, an app should stay relevant to its users by promoting re-engagement with services.

UI

Some developers operate on this misconception that a creating a complex UI would get more attention and hence, more customers. The honest truth – doesn’t happen that way!!

A not-so-easy UI can frustrate people and eventually affect app-usage – not everybody is from a technical background after all.

Applications are created keeping in mind a particular domain, not a specific section of the population. They are created for everybody, for maximum downloads by as many people as possible.

Serve your users what they want and not what you want or what you want them to want. Lots of ‘want’… take a second and read it again, you will understand the intent ??.

 Seamlessness

A platform that can sync real life experiences and expectations and offer suggestions in a seamless way is a definite go-to option. It is crucial to have continued support for apps, post development phase.

These are a few but the most important expectations customers have from applications. You can get to know more from people with a technological background.

If you have questions regarding web and app solutions or any other technical tough-nut, let us know.

We at Techugo, will make sure your idea retain the same competitive edge with which it was created.

Great wishes innovators!
