At long last, the guessing is over and we have a date for the UK election. The outcome will have implications for the UK economy and, potentially, personal taxation, irrespective of the result. As things stand, the possibility of an imminent change of government has not resulted in a market reaction. We will provide you with an update on the election and its implications as soon as possible after 4th July. Please feel free to get in touch if there are any issues you would like to discuss before then.

Further afield, the biggest US technology companies reported strong first quarter earnings, driving the latest move higher in equities. Earnings for the rest of the market have not been quite as impressive, but companies generally sound positive about the outlook. This suggests that corporate profits should continue to be a source of support for equity markets.
