What type of respiratory protection is required for asbestos work?

Occupational exposure to asbestos is the leading cause of cancer deaths. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that develops following inhalation of asbestos fibres.?

Asbestos protection

Asbestos removal will usually need to be carried out by specially trained and licensed organisations.

The correct grade of filter for asbestos is?P3. For people working with asbestos, we would always recommend a?full face respirator fitted with P3 filters.

In addition, a quantitative?face fit test?must be carried out to ensure adequate protection.?

Worthy of note that due to the physical nature of Asbestos works coupled with long continuous wear times, close fitting powered full face RPE would be the most suitable option, especially if we're talking enclosure works or licenced operations. Also worthy of note, PAPR (lose fitting) does not lend itself well to Asbestos works.
