"What is true happiness?"

By now, many people have watched the trendy Netflix documentary,' The Tinder Swindler'-a beguiling act of deception cocktailed through the narration of two women in pursuit of justice and enlightenment. What is true happiness? where can one find true happiness? how can one achieve true happiness? and why should one hound true happiness?. This among other questions are what the movie tried as much as possible to bring to the limelight. From a philosophical standpoint, love and death can be outlined as the sole-proprietors of true happiness: in The Tinder swindler(love) and Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth by Wole Soyinka's novel(death).

Experiencing the trials and tribulations that come through the choices we make is what makes us who we are -humans. Even after Cecilie Fjellh?y was duped of $250,000, at the end of what seemed like a true revelation of crime anecdote, she still vowed to continue swiping right. Dr Menka makes a U-turn after realising that the business he was going to be involved in through the 'Primary Resource Management' was about being united against 'waste'-parts of human bodies being traded. The devaluation of human dignity and human values is nothing but a 'dance of the macabre'(Dr. Tom Odhiambo).

But, the living has subscribed to, we live to fight another day. Suggesting, there is still a chance to re-discover true happiness. The dead(Duyole Pitan-Payne) on the other hand, talking on the perspective of modernity and not traditional(the double metaphysical illusion as in Memoirs of a Porcupine by Alain Mabanckou and An Orchestra of Minorities by Chigozie Obioma) we say, rest in peace to the departed souls. True happiness to the departed is long-lasting as they don't get the chance to stand another 'attempt'.Thus,' He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away(Revelations 21:4).Now that is true happiness.
